To anyone capable of helping me

I'm trying to make myself an outfit for oblivion, the outfit requires me to make minor adjustments to the HGEC body mesh, however once i have exported the completed mesh from blender an then paste the block into a new NIF file i get this effect in game

post-115672-0-96262300-1371412706_thumb.jpg

does anyone know how to correct this issue or what i am doing wrong on the export stage to get this affect, i have ensured the meshes texture path is the default "textures\characters\imperial\female\footfemale.dds"

if this post is in the wrong section of loverslab don't hesitate to tell me and ill move, if you think there is a better place to get an aswer to this problem im all ears.

thanks in advance

Wait...why are you pasting to a new nif file????

When you export the file from blender it already is in nif file format if you did it correctly.  You don't need to do anything more to it.

I assume you are talking about the waist line seam here.  This is a mesh issue (nif file) and not a texture one (so you can rule that out).

Whatever you have done either in blender or in pasting things is the root of the problem.

You need to explain what you are editing and why in the nif file, as well as explaining why you are pasting stuff.

It might help to post the nif file as well.

thank you for your quick reply

My apologies for not being clear the waste lines not matching up is not the problem, the issue is that the parts i export from blender IE the torso and legs show a different texture than normal, IE the weird brown texture, my character is pale skinned like the hands and feet

i edited the meshes because i want a different set of legs to match a torso like so

this picture also illustrates the incorrect skin texture problem i am having

i first put the unmatched legs and torso into one nif file

i then imported the file into blender and merged (Ctrl+J) the the torso and legs

i then merged the seam vertices together using (alt+m)

i then exported the mesh

for some reason blender always re separated the torso and legs for you (not the problem)

i then put the legs part into an outfit nif file

this process seems to work sometimes after a lot of fiddling it has worked with other outfit i have made but i cant get it to work this time

i was kind of hoping there was a simple fix for the brown skin issue.

Yes, there is a simple fix for the brown skin issue.

Open the nif file and change the NiTriShape (or NiTriStrips) name of the skin sections to "Foot".

Also make sure the NiMaterialProperty for all skin sections is set on "skin".

That will make your coloring issue go away.  If you still have issues just holler.

Next time you are going to do this don't combine things with nifskope.

Just import all of the mesh files (nif) into blender one at a time until they are all there.

Delete all of the skeletons that come with the meshes.

Hold down your shift key and select all mesh parts (they will be different shades of pink).

Then import a full skeleton using the parent setting.

Now make your edits and export the parts (upperbody and lowerbody).

That should help make things a touch quicker and more reliable.

Greg

? your lower Body mesh has incorrect Skin texture ? Thats all ? Then you need no Blender. Change the "NiMaterialProperty" Name from ??? to Skin. That's all, and the lower Body mesh use the Skin texture of your race.

Ups, too late.

Like I stated earlier I changed the NiTriStrips name from what you had it  (tri foot something or other - blender does this and you have to change it back on skin) to just "foot".

It is the little things that will get you every time.  :P

Modding is fun isn't it....... :s

The thing to remember is that Bethesda make heavy use of naming conventions in their meshes and textures and have taken shortcuts with the graphics engine accordingly. (Short cuts for convenience, not performance as far as I'm aware).

A body part should always be named foot or foot:something, with or without a capital F. A prefix of any kind breaks it.

A skin material should always be named skin, with or without a capital S. Anything else breaks racial skin swapping and doesn't apply the correct shaders.

Watch out for the *_*.dds naming conventions for textures as well.
