Problem with the Mod Configuration

Yes I know many have already posted about the same thing, but I couldn't find any solution. The thing is that the menu in MCM is not showing to install in an old save. But when I start a new game it does show up, and the installation goes perfectly. My question is: Is there any way to make it work in the old save? I've already tried installing the mod in the new game save and then loading the old save, but it didn't work. Does this mean that I can only use the mod in that new save?

Sorry if it's a moronic question, but I've just started with the modding thing yesterday. I'm having a lot of trouble to understand many things. Thanks!

Quite simply, many mods require a new game to function properly.

Sexlab Framework

There are a few things that go wrong (LE):

  • SL requirements aren't correct. For example you also need to overwrite any mod that comes with papyrusutil with papyrusutil 3.3
  • You can get away often by playing around with single plugins, but adding esm to you game will change the whole LO sequence. From my experiance esm adding and removing is the worst you can do.
  • After modifying brutally you LO and loading an old save can make mods fail to load correctly, thus indirectly make Sexlab getting stuck.
  • It's only save to add mods at the end of your LO, which is hard to do with an esm.

If you have to use that old save you can try this:

  • Instead of adding esm, exchange them. Remove an esm you don't need anymore and it's related plugins > make a clean save (the old one) > add sexlab esm and move it at exacly the same spot in LO you removed the old esm from
  • Same works for esp for max compatibilty with your old save.

For future LO builds:

  • Add some placeholders to your game.
  • ESM Placeholders can be quest esm or esm that aren't connected to many esp/esm
  • ESP Placeholders can be equipment mods like outfits and anything else that isn't connected to somerhing
  • You can find more ideas about that in my blog
  • There is a placeholder mod on LL, just google it or find it in my blog
  • Build your own placeholder by creating a mod that includes just a vanilla knife or something
