Messenjah Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 So, I'm looking at adding a secondary brothel near Riften. It just seems like a great place to have something like this. I already have made on for Markarth and I just need to copy and paste things over, once I have it made. I will have to write a quest to handle dialogue and other such things, but that should be a lot of copy-paste as well. Anyway, it seems to be a very fitting place for this, however, I looked at the way Riften is set up and the way the snap-kits are made for the lower section of the city and it doesn't really allow for much modification. Outside of the city, is a warzone, during the civil war, so there are markers and soldiers set up all over the place out there, so the space is pretty well occupied. The only thing I can think of, is to move my brothel down the road from Riften. Anyone know of a good placement for something like this?
Jexsam Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 My gut says somehow tacking it onto the docks outside Riften would be a good idea. I'm not sure how feasible that is with the warzone stuff, but I have to imagine it'd be easier than dealing with soldier markers on the ground outside and the crowded conditions inside the city. Besides, being on the water should open up some amusing naming options.
zomdweeby Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Is it possible to add to the docks and place it somewhere near the fishery? Maybe just to the side of the warehouse even.
Monsto Brukes Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 there's the closed off riften entrance in the SE corner of the . . . "city" (14 buildings and 40 ppl don't really make a city, but whatev, man). IIRC there's a pretty good space over there to drop another Rift-style building. lets see. (going in game...) [edit] Yep. . . between the thieves guild back door and the wall of the castle, there's plenty of space. Theres a Talosian Shrine there, but you should be able to build around it. You could also just build it into the city wall there and have a 2nd entrance exiting the city. Not unheard of, but unique at the riften playerhome. You know what else? you could build it OVER the waterway between honeyside and the general store. Then there's the garden space next to honeyside... anyone every REALLY use that? Other than that, it's pretty fucking crowded in riften. Why don't you just kick aerin out of his house? oooh oh oh ... I smell quest in there. Something about the Markarth Madam coming to riften wanting to set up shop. And Aerin will sell it if you do X... Maybe?
Monsto Brukes Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 The Guild always talking about turning Ragged Flaggon and cistern into brothel, plenty of beds and a place to swim. yeah but even after you've 'won' the guild quest line, it's still just a stinkin sewer.
Creamlord666 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 How about you implement it for the thieves guild main quest? Since it would make sense (imo) they would run this etablishment on their turf. Then the location would be easy - reform Mercer Frey's house in Riften after you finished the main thieves guild quest and you could even hire Vald (the old backyard guard dog of Mercer) as bouncer. Remember he was in debt with Maven Blackbriar and you could get into Mercers house but just find a way to release Vald from his debt (optional) - I'm sure he would be grateful to work for your new brothel then hehe.
Guest sirfreakish Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 The lower area of riften, you could make a door around there somewhere. Kind of like the door that leads to beggar's row but instead there would be your door for your place.

I concur with this your markarth looks more upper tier in quality having it somwhere along the water way could be interesting.
TheSmithsDog Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 You could use the skooma dealers warehouse after the quest(The Raid) to get rid of him is done.
Messenjah Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 Well... I tried the lower area actually as you suggested. The problem is with the snap kits. I would have to re-make the wall mesh and add doors to them. Turns out, that the walls have the doors built in. I have no idea why Bethesda makes their snap kits the way they do. Absolutely stupid. Some snap kits are fine, but for the cities, it seems that they just model the entire city and then chop it up into peices and slap them in the CK. However, they always chop them up in odd ways that you can't actually modify. So I can't just move the wall or add a door and have it look right. I'll look into the other suggested areas. I'd rather avoid making modifications to current npc's or theives guild quests if I can. This would really complicate matters and may cause conflicts with anything in-game. With my other brothel, I had to move a barrel and firepit. The barrel moved, but the firepit still floats mid-air, even though it was moved a long time ago. I even tried deleting it and it still appears in the same spot. I'm not sure what it would do if I modify a space that is already used.
Monsto Brukes Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Your doorway doesn't need a hole in the mesh... take any old building front, jut it out from the wall face a few units, and done. The player doesn't have to walk thru it. The only thing that needs to happen is that when the player opens the door to zone, that the opening door doesn't reveal the wall behind. all you gotta do for that it just make sure there's enuf space between the wall and the door. But tbph, I LOVE the "Mercer's Haus" brothel idea. I think you should even hire the court mage from the riften castle to work at the brothel. Her existing lines would just be a riot. "Did we have an appointment?" and then the ever so kinky "Now . . . what did I do with those spiders..."
