dmen77 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 If you are looking for more information about Battlefield 4 multiplayer this article seems to have a rundown of several features that are currently revealed for the game.
Nonsense667 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 DICE is changing how specializations work. It won't go into the finer details, but the developer is creating a system where you and your squad can bump up your specializations as you play if you are doing well. Or in other words, they want their own version of killstreaks from CoD. Awesome. Words cannot describe how much I hate the idea of "winner gets better, loser gets worse" in a battlefield game. Don't get me wrong, I actually kinda like killstreaks in CoD, due to the arcade-like nature of the game. Though I don't mind playing in matches with them off, hah. But they don't belong in battlefield. "Your squad made 500 points/10 kills, you now have access to claymores!" just... no... just... no... Which is kinda annoying, because from the article, the rest of it sounds quite awesome.

It may be a killstreak system from this very little information but judging by Battlefield 3 specializations it will be a much smaller advantage than the broken shit that is Cod killstreaks. Like You just teabagged Xxnoscope360xx you can now hold extra explosives. And to be honest, I'm not really super pumped about China as the enemy. I'll admit. I don't know shit about the game really, other than hearing china is the enemy. Let's say I'm cautious. Am I against a Chinese enemy? No, not really. Did I love having Russia as the other Faction? Hah, yup yup. I love doing Russian Accents. And to be honest, "Russia is bad guy" in video games, although way over done, doesn't really grate me. It doesn't really have any "implications," you know? It just says "Hey, we want a bad guy, Russia works." But with how politics in America are right now, China is the go-to bad guy, for real, not in games, to act like it's some sort of looming menace over our society, ready to gobble us poor Americans up if we vote for the (other) party. And hopefully it wont play out in the game, or around it, after all, Battlefield 2 (which I haven't played) was U.S. vs China, but I fear that it will spark a bunch of bullshit hate/racism/politics around the game. It's not about politics, it's just what they have to chose from. The most common enemies lately have been Russia and random Arab countries with China thrown in the mix every once in a while. China is just one of the few countries that is an easy choice for an american enemy, who can they chose from? North Korea is a joke , Arab countries for the most part are using old Russian tech that is falling apart, Russia is 20 years too late, most european countries have been our close allies for the last 100+ years and would only attack us if the US became the "bad guys". Whats left.... India? They can launch cows at us. Fear the cows. Oh don't forget about aliens.

Nonsense667 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Heh, don't get me wrong, I get that, but there are all sorts of things you could do with a little messing around with artistic license. Homfront for example. And yeah... I'm about damn tired of fighting "the terrorists" in modern games, I'll give you that. (Don't even get me started on the face palming at seeing that final fantasy trailer that had guys in turbans firing AK's...) Thinking about it, yeah, China as an enemy is fine. Hell, it was in BF2. But like I said, it's not so much the idea of it that bothers me, it's the idea of potential crap that could be around it. Though I guess there is always just ignoring it if it does pop up, hah. And as for the system... well... the video posted is what has me a little worried, if the preview is accurate. Look to the right of the map on the bottom left. Looks like sprint, extra mags, extra grenades, then something else... armor? Not sure. That's small enough that it's not absolutely horrible... but I still can't say I like it. Giving rewards for "streaks" encourages certain types of gameplay. And that can hurt how the game functions. "Hmm.... I could rush in their and clear the room, and arm the mcom, but I might get shot and lose my bonus, I'll stay back." http://youtu.be/mztsX5VKqWw?t=3s
