The consequences would be the modder may stop developing any new mod, especially mod for older games.

Okay, then why doesn't the WuWa and ZZZ community care? and the paid mods merge almost immediately after the request? and here is 1 damn, the only mod that, let's be honest, is not worth the money that is being asked for it, and the author is no longer supported. Why would people go and buy a subscription for a whole month if of all they need from a creator is 1 mod?

Did you read the description for that mod? It only works on like one level of the game and does not work in cutscenes. At least that was the state of it when I looked.

I respect the fact that you are being civil so I will also try to be so. Do I consider myself to be a mod or an admin? No, although I suppose there are some that would think otherwise based on my actions as you have pointed out. I respect and appreciate the mods and admin of this site. To keep it in order is... well... let's just say herding cats for the rest of your life would be easier. That said, they are not omnipresent. I have seen, many, many threads on here that contain folks violating the rules in one way or another. I suspect many of these users are doing it out of ignorance or just plain not caring although that certainly is just a hunch and with no way of proving if it is true then it is also merely a sweeping assumption based on my personal bias, I suppose. So, I do point out the rules so that people know. At that point it is entirely up to them to read them, give a care or up to the moderators to do anything about any infractions. Obviously, I don't have any authority or power to do so. 

 

As for why it bothers me? Well I have been a user on this site for over a decade now. Apart from the degeneracy, what I always admired about this site was the community that at it's core had a strong heart of developing mods and sharing them with the community. Mod authors made mods because they wanted something that didn't exist and were generous enough to share it with the community so that we all could enjoy their creation as well. There wasn't some sort of expectation of payment back then and if there was it was merely for the purpose of helping support a modder that gives so generously to the community.

 

Now you see an ever emergent trend of modders who are too busy, too bothered, or too uncaring to make mods just for the joy of doing so and giving to the community. People want to be paid for everything. Is it wrong or even legal? Well that is huge discussion that warrants its own discussion so I won't go into it here. Should they be paid? You know what, sure, why the hell not. Putting aside legality, if they want to reimbursed for dozens of hours or more of work then that's fine. The issue I have is that, this, THIS community is not a place for that. Refer back to the start of this paragraph to see why. 

 

The LL rules have been up forever but it was only just recently that Ashal very clearly refined the definition of the general rule of paywalled mods. I will keep that in mind for the future and will try to be a bit less... forceful towards folks unless it violates the clarified rules.
