I read almost all the guides to edit a Skyrim nif file in blender but after several (many many) tries along the years realized that I am an idiot and that I need help.

Can someone guide me in order to be able to edit some nif meshes ??? I am currently struggling with Blender 2.49 and all that crap.

I wanna do some silly edits.

Someone removed the Steel mask but forgot to remove the hinges from this helmet

Helmet2_MA.nif -  Nordwar Armor Replacer

Also love Meridia's Dawnbreaker but I HATE it's shape, and I wanna to make Akatosh Armor modular or at least remove some parts

that were never finished by the original author when the mods sells fell.

You can remove geometry in Outfit Studio.

I don't import/export .nif to Blender, I convert to .obj instead. Keep in mind that converting to .obj removes bones and material from the mesh. Outfit Studio can copy bones from one mesh to another.

Take a look at this, removed some things in OS

You're just editing mesh?

That is simple :)

These are the best tutorials I think: https://wiki.beyondskyrim.org/wiki/Arcane_University:Blender_2.7x_Export

All you need to do is get the nif into Outfit Studio, then export the mesh as an FBX. Work in FBX unless you specifically can't for some reason. If you work with Static mesh it's ok to use OBJ but just use FBX as a standard. Import the mesh in blender, any version. You can use the latest. Then after editing just export then import back into Outfit Studio.

When you export from blender, set the translation to Z up, Y Forward.

Then from OS, just export the mesh into a nif. You can then copy that mesh into another nif file if needed.

If it's a static mesh you need to disable 'Skinned' parameter and delete the skin info.
