OysterMug Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 I'm trying to figure out how to get Hook 5 running under Linux once again, and in the process, I nearly found a way to get Hook 4 working! ? After much effort, I was able to install the "DirectX 9.0c" redistribution package under Wine but I have yet to figure out how to install DX11. (Yes, I have Vulkan & DxVk working.) I decided (out of curiosity) to try running VX with Hook 4msvs7 installed, and to my astonishment, it actually ran! I get as far as trying to load a room, but just before it appears, I get this crash/error that I've never seen before: For some reason, it looks like it doesn't detect/recognize my monitor ("CRT"). Very odd. I have no idea how to fix this. Changing options in the Launch Menu does not help. I'm sure I'll have H5 working as soon as I figure how how to install the DX11 redist files, Once I figure out these issues, I'll write a complete tutorial on how to install VX with Hook 4 & 5 support under Linux. Any ideas?
Guest Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 CRT is not a monitor. It is the C runtime. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/error-messages/tool-errors/c-runtime-error-r6030?view=msvc-160

Any ideas? On old MG Avarteas had described how to activate Hook on Linux. By its instructions I use Hook 3. I refused from Hook 5 due to the huge load of hardwear - on Linux any Hook load jumps sharply. Hook 3 use DirectX9 - this is good to my hardware. But Hook 5 use DirectX11 and this is two much for me. For all questions relating to the activation of whatever under Linux turn to Avarteas. Have a nice day.

I had saved the instructions, but a Ransomeware attack wiped it out last January. I believe I have all the requirements in place except DX11. Still trying to figure out how to install that under Wine.
