More Memory?

When I play with Body Overhaul, Carnalitas, Coetus Anima and Daughters of Lust (plus prerequisits) the game starts to be pretty much unplayable at some point (around 1050 AD when starting the earlier scenarios), as if it doesn't fit into the memory anymore (an issue that the base game has too, but to a lesser degree).

I have plenty of free system memory, but the game apparently isn't allowed to use more than a little over 7 GB.

Is there any program or setting that allows CK3 to use more memory, like ENB can do for Skyrim for example?

It might be a processor issue rather than memory. Does this game use multiple cores or is everything going through a single core? I'm getting a lot of lag when there are different messages vying for screen space.

I've got 12 mods going including nearly all those you listed there. It could be one of the mods has something bad in it and chews up all the processor time. I'm not using Coetus Anima at the moment so I can't blame that one.

I've got the 4 CBO Clothes mods in there.

In the task manager I see all Cores ticked and while the game struggles my processor is below 25% and my total system RAM at 40-45% .

And my graphic card is close to being bored, running on passive cooling with the fans off.

Edit: And the ressource monitor says CK3 is running with 109 threads... so I think that multi-threading is working.

To be honest I'd be surprised if a game this new didn't use all the cores.

I'm also not impressed with the game itself. I've just come out because the camera wouldn't respond properly so I lost my army, the war and got captured into the bargain. The combat mechanics are worse than TW Rome 1 ever was, way back when. And don't get me started on the AI.

Have you looked at your various CK3 log files?

Have you tried without the CBO mods?

Edit:

My error log is currently 17,430,284 KB - too large for Notepad to open. That is after only a few hours of playing. I deleted that file this morning when it was a lot larger than that.

I think that what is causing the lag is the CK3 of a stack dump.

Edit  2:

Just right-clicked and looked at properties for that file and it is 3.34 GB even though it is still giving a seven digit number in the explorer window (basically 3.5 MB shown in KB).

No it's not, at least not on my system. As I mentioned before everything in my comptuer still has plenty of ressources free. The processor barely reaches the 25% and I even checked the detailed view where you see the seperate cores and none of the cores goes to 100% either. So how can it be the processor?

The really ironic thing is that when the game has one of those annoying one or two minute pseudo freezes (where I can still do pretty much anything, but the day is stuck) the CPU usage even goes down, which is a pretty clear indication to me that the CPU is not the bottleneck here.

Did you have a look at your error.log size?

Mine's "only" 230 MB.

I can't really rule the error log out, but I don't really think that's it either, since the same log file is used regardless of playthrough and mod setup.

But when I start a new game with all the mods everything runs fine for decades and only get's irritating a century or more in.

And when I deactive ceotus anima, carnalitas & co and just use my steam workshop mods + body overhaul, everything keeps running fine for much longer, despite still using the same error log file.

By the way if notepad won't open it, try to download notepad++.

It usually opens such large files in a manner of seconds, where notepad and the default editor either need multiple minutes or just ouright crash.

The problem is not with the log file - the problem is the amount of errors being written to it. No error log should be even 230 MB.

On the rare occasion where I've caught it small enough to open I have seen some errors from Carnalitas mods and Regula Magistri, more from CBO and many more errors which I couldn't understand or tell which mod.

Now I'm on CK3 v1.4.4 with Carnelitas, CBO and CA I don't have any lag and the actors in the event window thing aren't split half at the top and half at the bottom. I still haven't got any sex animations though.

Edit

In case anyone is interested this just from start up to the campaign map where you choose any ruler or click to create your own.

Only 146 KB but still a lot of errors.

Right. After a day of hell jumping through hoops I appear to have fixed all my problems (  ? ).

Short story of a very long day: I uninstalled all mods and Irony Mod Manager. Started a new game to make sure the vanilla game actually worked properly. Reinstalled the mod manager and bare minimum of mods and tested. Still no good. More pissing about. Deleted my mod manager presets and created new. Did the same for the Game Options presets.

That seemed to get things working right. Started yet another new game and added a mod every hour or two. Still no sex animations happening.

Came out of the game late on last night because I was losing a war I should have won easily - my army was in two parts and I couldn't remember how to merge them. Found the info and went back in the game to use it and decided to add another mod while I was at it - Physical Attributes.

Merged my arming and was busy besieging some place while watching the counter on the other guy besieging one of my places when up pops a sex animation which worked. It finished then another popped up, and again and again with no lag. Different animation every time, it wasn't stuck in a loop. It was like some sort of backlog was being dealt with.

The other weird thing was that my guy was pushing 40 and had about 6 wives but hadn't produced a single child since he started at 18 (I was starting to get worried). Suddenly I have 3 pregnancies from this one batch of animations.

I came out of the game in shock and is now my habit went to the error.log file to delete it. More shock as it was only 760 KB after umpteen hours of play.

Had another good session today full of animations and the log file hasn't bloated.
