If you have any Mods installed from Sims 3 the game won't load either. Remove all mods except for Wicked Whims + Animations and test game again. Don't forget to delete your localthumbcache.pkg in your TS4 folder whenever you add, remove, or update mods or the game itself. You will have to add Mods back a few at a time until the problem starts again to find the broken ones.
