Well hey, while we're throwing suggestions out, I'd submit that it should be cb++ tbbp/bbp (preferably t) compatible so it works for all body types.  I'd be surprised if anyone undertakes this, though.  Interest for WoW/warcraft gear is hard to come by.

I saw this in the nexus forums as well. The outfit would be nice for a dark elf archer but I'm surprised they asked for it at nexus given the fact the material for making the armor would be copyrighted by blizzard Nexus wouldn't ever let it be posted to the site so I'm glad it was posted here as well..

One of the reasons I posted it here. Nexus is too stingy about copyright.

Looks okay-ish, but since I don't have wow installed here anymore, I don't have the files. Would be happy to do a retex though.

Thankfully, wow model extraction is trivial as everything is super-well documented, and there are at least a dozen tools out there to do the same thing.

I would like to do this myself, but I have close to 30 sets of outfit, weapon that I abandoned but would like to finish it up over the summer.

 

If you want to do it, I have the texture and the max file for it.  The textures files are weird, the UV shells spread into 2 maps(see attached pic), I guess it would be a perfect mesh for you to try out that flatiron.

 

Anyhow, if you want to do it, send me a pm, I can upload the 7z for you. Another thing, the max file probably use non-default scale, so you might want to scale it up quite a bit.

I'll be happy to take a look at it, but can't promise that I'll get to it in any specific timeframe.

 

Put up a public (4shared, mediafire, etc) link though.

 

As far as blizzard and "modeling skills", that has more to do with the fact that you can't have 2kx2k textures and 30000 polys in wow, else most teenager's machines would instantly blow up. You can, though, in skyrim. (In fact I have 100k poly body meshes happily running with no frame-rate penalty -- the bottleneck is simply not triangles these days, but texture fill rate / shader power). I have "extensive" procedures for redoing armor meshes and textures, but still need source material (simply don't have the skills to model from scratch).

 

Scale - obviously. As long as it has skeletons; I can still do ports w/o skeletons, but they're much tricker.

Here's a teaser of the armor. It's about 50% done. The meshes and textures are all from the original game (with new normal maps by me since the original don't have normal maps). It's functional but has lots of clipping at the moment

 

Anyone good with texture can chime in on this and whip up some good one based on the textures posted by knoFear. My expertise is not in texture so I can only go so far. The armor looks okay from a far but upclose the low res textures does show their age, even with a detailed normal map

Comments? Critiques? Any other ideas/requests? If you want me to do something, you'll have to provide me with the resources (preferably in max or 3ds compatible formats along with all the textures associated so I can work around them). I'll also have to be interested in the armor to convert them in the first place.

 

Speaking of that. A little off topic but anyone know of a good website to download some 3d models (original or rips) that are 3ds max compatible?

nvm, original tga have usable spec map.

 

I make a quick resample/rescaling textures, Might be usable.

 

(note: I didn't stretch the 256*512 image, so it get re-scale to 1024*2048, never try that size on armor, but bethsoft does use 256*512 on some objects i.e: horncandle01.dds)
