What is Mega Trying to Do

I wanted to download the DF_T19 boots from Mega when firefox tells me the site (mega) wants to store 50meg of data for offline use, the boots are only 2.61mb.  After download, Mega tells me to allow firefox the accept the extra data.  I backed out real quick.

So what is the story behind this dumping 50mb for a 3mb file?

EDIT - checked the Mega link for the boots (B3lisario's UNPB conversions) and Mega won't send the file, so in effect, will not let me try to download it again.  Strange.

I never got asked. It was just click the box and hit save :)

Do you have the Firefox extension installed, I don't have it installed if that helps.

Here are the boots for you. They are attached to the bottom of this post.

Thanks, I got the boots from baidu.com.

I tried downloading Bob's Platform boots from Mega to see what happens and this is what I got.

The mega link is from the same thread.  I believe when I made firefox refuse the extra package, Mega won't let me download from them.

Here are my extensions.

Afaik Mega downloads files in the background before the "Where do you want to save the file" dialog pops up; Firefox (and maybe other browsers too) classifies this as offline data and prevents sites to exceed a certain amount of space. However the discrepancy between file size and reserved space was never that big for me but it may be because I've never downloaded such small files from Mega and 50 mb is simply the smallest extra offline data size.

Can you download other files from Mega?

I never had problems downloading files of any size from Mega.  Back when many moved to Mega and linked their files from there, there were the popups stating the files needs to be saved to complete the download.  The past 1-2 months there were no popups, downloads auto saved.  Yesterday was the first time ever, firefox warned me about the extra, large data Mega wanted to download/save to my pc.

I tried some other links from the What Mod is This thread and I only got the popup stating the file needs to be save to complete the download.  I guessing I never received another warning from FF because the first time I chose the "Never from this site" option when it asked to accept the 50mb data.
