Adam Jensen Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I know this sounds weird, but hear me out. One of the things I love about games like Skyrim is the roleplaying aspect, sadly Skyrim lacks a bit. So what I have in mind, is a mod that would allow you to get a job as a barmaid. This is aimed for a play style in which you aim to have a somewhat normal character, instead of a legendary dragon soul eater, who owes its soul to more than 5 daedra princes. The idea would be to realize simple chores around the inn. Perhaps quest objectives like, serve the mead, sweep the floor, get a clients order and prepare a meal, provide entertainment. This could be done with in game assets or perhaps it could be expanded a bit by adding things like dance animations and such. So what do you think? Anyone interested?
drenari Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 If that were a released mod I would probably check it out. I would say go a bit farther and not just have the quests set at one inn. Make a quest chain where some npc's are trying to own all the inn's in skyrim and you help to do that. Say the white run inn is low on firewood so you go chop some and get that inn set and get a note saying the solitude inn is in need of something else. Combine some need based quests in with a main chain where your convincing the owners to sell the place to you either by helping them do some quest like one of the early ones there in riverwood where you go find his stolen claw. Or for those stubborn innkeepers who wont sell maybe even have some options to rough them up or hurt there business. Basically have a good guy and a bad guy way to go about taking control of all the inn's. As a quest line finisher once you have control of all the inn's then you can hire or set npc's in the world to work at the inn's. That could also tie in with those other mods like niruins business plan where you also have some pro ho's working in your inn. basically have a setup where you can then control what npc's work there, what kind of entertainment the guests can have, a bonus extra room you have access to in each inn that's your own personal room since your the boss. With something like that in place you could then look into other scenario's like the black briar bitch trying to move in on your riften inn turf so you need quests to go rough up her goons and sabotage her businesses in return. There are some cool possibility's you could explore with a mod like this and you could always have repeatable quests to do inn chores once you owned the inn.
Monsto Brukes Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 It would be a mod for people that don't get enough of washing dishes, cooking dinner and doing fambly laundry. sorry man . . . most games are about escapism and the fantasy aspect of being on the cast of Heroes as opposed to being a normal person in a different universe. If Game of Thrones was about a couple of farmers families, or it was CSI Kansas City, it just wouldn't have the same . . . oomph.
Sensual Nautilus Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I'm actually down for this, but I'm not willing to get rid of my ultimate destiny no, I'd bring the ultimate destiny in my character's barmaiden life. By day I serve ale, By night I serve justice!

While I get why you do not like it, some us want to do more roleplay than just dungeon exploring. That's where mods kick in, some are meant for exploring and adding things to combat, while some of them are to enhance our roleplaying experience !
Monsto Brukes Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I didn't say that I didn't like it. It was more of a statement of likelihood that such a mod would get made. People get enough of doing paperwork and paying my bills in real life, therefore there's no desire to make a Deus Ex mod where dude sits at his desk and does paperwork.
Adam Jensen Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 You be surprised, I was checking the Nexus and there seems to be work on things like this. There is one that allows you to get a job as a blacksmith and another one that allows you to get a job as a chef, among others.
