TesEdit Help and maybe some CK help, though hopefully not.

There are two things I am trying to do in TesEdit and cannot seem to figure out. If I could, it would save me a lot of time.

 

1. Add VMad Scripts. So far my google search suggests adding scripts must be done in CK. But I can't get CK to work on my machine for very long without crashing and even when it works, it is so user unfriendly that I don't know what I'm doing. I'd rather work with TesEdit if possible. It would save me the most time if there was a way to copy VMAD scripts from one NPC creature to another. I wouldn't even need my #2 question if there is a way to do #1.

 

2. View records side by side. Say I have two NPC records and I want to change one to match the other almost (but not quite) exactly. For example, since I can't copy scripts, the slow way is to copy the NPC with the scripts and then change everything else to the other NPC. That takes more time. The problem is, I can't view both NPCs records side by side in TesEdit (that I know of). Is there a way to simultaenously view two NPC files to make the adjustments go quicker? I tried minimizing and having two instances of TesEdit running, but while minimized there is no horizontal scrolling (which is a dumb design but whatever). So it has to be full screen or I can't see anything.

 

 

And if neither of the above is possible, how do I use CK to apply scripts from one NPC to another. And please be very specific with directions, click by click possibly.

Nope, can be done just in xEdit.  The only pieces of this equation that xEdit can't do is compare the script contents and tell you if something is missing/misaligned, and xEdit can't auto-fill properties.  If you are methodical, you can make this work without the CK.

Ctrl+click both of them.  If using fewer than 5 total selections, they should appear together automatically.  Else, you will need to right-click and use "compare selected".

Thank you so much. The "compare selected" step is what I was missing. And that solved everything because then I could copy scripts.
