Purposefully semi-transparent in Skyrim

Is there a means to make your character semi-transparent while keeping full transparency on your armor? Not looking for console commands like setactoralpha or setrace ghostrace. Looking for a mesh or texture or general idea of what files to modify to make it happen. I cant seem to find anything that isn't how to fix a transparent character or editing the alpha on armor to make it see-through.

I've just about done it. I'm stuck trying to get the changes I make to my head nif apply in-game, but managed to get what I was hoping for for the rest of the body.

I've managed to get the effects I was working toward! I'm attempting to do the same thing for a femalehead.nif (.8 alpha) but any edits I do in nifskope will not appear in-game. Do you have any insights? Tried editing the racemenu exported face data, no luck. I also tried using Unique Player 3.0 and placing a modified femalehead.nif in there, no effect.

Is this the player or NPC? If NPC you have to edit the meshes\actors\character\facegendata\facegeom\[mod]\[id].nif
