Silk Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 Hello, Currently trying to get back into Skyrim SE after a hiatus and found that the SKSE wasn't working. Nothing has changed from my install since I stopped playing before hand so was really confused. Kept getting a response on the SKSE loader saying that "Skyrim.exe cannot be found" thinking that it was a weird bug or SkyrimSE had updated recently I decided to reinstall SKSE from the silverlock page. Still the same issue. Verified integrity of game files via steam and still nothing. Eventually after a bit of searching I found that my Anti-Virus had flagged it as a Trojan. Is this a new issue people have been having, or has an update caused my AV to be more sensitive that normal? ie - is it safe for me to put SKSE as an exception for the anti-virus?
Mr. Otaku Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 I think it's safe. I mean we're all using it without suffering any virus related drawbacks so your anti-virus is definitely picking false flags on it.
Silk Posted July 18, 2021 Author Posted July 18, 2021 Thanks for your replies guys. I think I have managed to fix the issue. I just deleted everything related to SKSE off of my machine, which included the SKSE64_launcher that the AV was thinking was a virus, then reinstalled it from a fresh download. Seems to have done the trick.
Frep Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 I had the same issue today. It took me a while before understanding it was avast the culprit. I placed the skse launcher in its exception list.
