Pretty much yes, though you don't have to install everything at once or at all to make it functional, here is my best practice advice: meet Preston Garvey or otherwise do an early save in Sanctuary with willing test subjects err settlers around get the minimal AAF install working + female and male body of choice, test them if you want creature features install and test them with Dogmeat and Codsworth if you can with your mod manager of choice: backup your load order now from here on slowly add and test additional AAF modules, carefully read the mod descriptions to spot incompatibilities. be ready to return a lot to your initial safe after testing and dumping incompatible mods

WHY didn't I think of doing my playtest like THIS?! ?♂️ I always work (for stability) based on the LO. Took me 6 reinstalls to get my current stable LO.
