Sexout bugged out

I had an issue where I'm assuming what happened was a scene didn't exit properly, which then caused my player to have the "In use" flag. I used the console command here: 

 to clear the flag. But then attempting to start a scene printed an error that was something like "Waiting for (actor) to gain PosX" and it'd just sit there. Thankfully I had a recent save to go back to, so I utilized that. But does anyone have any insight on how to reliably fix this next time, in case it happens again?

Only going to a save prior to when the last sex-scene played.
