Corniculum Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Not sure if this is the exact right place to put this. If it's wrong, sorry! My bad! I'm not much of a poster. Moreso a lurker. But, yeah.... As the title says. And just to reiterate, I play LE, not SE. I'm an avid mod user, and have been since 2013, so I know my way around MO2 and the various mods I use pretty well, I'm not a complete newbie. I'm just new to the CK, and to creating mods myself. I was following THIS tutorial. I ran into a few snags here and there, but in the end I figured everything out through a lot of googling. However... None of the textures appear when I select them, and yes, I did change the colour and the vanilla warpaints show up no problem. It's literally JUST the stuff I'm messing around with that appear blank. The names in the script I made all show up perfectly fine in the texture selector for makeup, there doesn't SEEM to be any hiccups in the script itself( tho I could be wrong ), I tried putting everything into separate folders, and then into a single overlay folder too. As far as the tutorial goes, and as far as I can tell in all my inexperience, I've done everything right, and yet.... I also ran the alphas through TexConvGUI and Cathedral Assets Optimizer, just to see if that would help. It did not, sadly. My current best guess is maybe the alphas are positioned weirdly for LE and are showing up, just not where they should be? Honestly I have no idea, this post my last ditch effort to figure this all out so I can have some more makeup to play around with. HERE is what I have. It includes the scripts, the alphas, and the esp. Thanks to anyone who tries to help! I really do appreciate any guidance given.

They are all black-white pictures. And another note: The overlay texture must not be 100% white, otherwise no color can be changed. Use a light shade of gray instead. Here is the NINIlip2.dds of you with alpha channel. With and without mipmaps and one version not completely white. overlays.zip

I'm very accustomed to Sims 2, where Alphas ARE just black and white images, so i assumed nothing was wrong with these ones when I saw them LOL
Corniculum Posted June 11, 2021 Author Posted June 11, 2021 Oh my god I feel like such an idiot -- I figured it out! It WAS a pathing issue! I had one extra folder that the overlays were in, so the script couldn't actually find them since the path wasn't actors -> character -> character assets -> overlays, it was actors -> character -> overlays. My god do I feel stupid! Well, anyway I did indeed edit the alphas too so everything works perfectly now! I mean, aside from being very pixel-y, but that's an easier problem to fix. Big thanks to Andy for his help, and big thanks to my brain for finally deciding to work XD Hopefully anyone else who has this problem sees this so they can feel less stupid about the rookie mistake.

Keep an uncompressed version of every texture to work with. Either TGA or DDS RGBA uncompressed. Otherwise the files will be compressed again each time they are opened and saved and at some point they will just be artifacts.
