CBBE, UNPB, BBP, and SexLab, Prison Overhaul, and Sanguine's Debauchery

I'm looking for some advice about which body type I should go with in future game plays.

A really condensed preliminary summary, which is begging for expansion:

CBBE

UNPB

  • the new UNP thing (which warns about gaps and seams)
  • no vanilla BBP  (that I'm aware of)
  • UNPB is UNPB, no questions about compatibility
  • troublemaker - smiles all round, wish (s)he'd apply that genius to vanilla
  • Arrok is apparently using this as baseline
  • love that long torso, but other than runway models who's got that

In some ways I think I've answered most of my questions just by summarizing above, but until someone with chops converts chronotrigger's work to UNP BBP(x) i will be torn.

Advice?

I use UNPB and while there are less armours for it i prefer the body shape that doesn't seem to be as big as cbbe. There is a UNPB download that comes with BBP on the page.

and now I read about xp32 skeleton belly bones.

Really, all, this is not an academic question.

Which meshes and skeletons are lovers lab modders going to focus their attentions on?

From what I saw since CBBE was released, UNP and UNPB gradually gained more and more attention, it is not even so true now that there is more armor for CBBE, most of the newer models are either made directly for UNP or converted very fast.

It still lacks a true TBPP support, high heels could be a problem even if there are some working versions and the bodyslide is not as good as on CBBE yet (mostly because it lacks armor support) but unless a new great body shape pops out I am pretty sure the future of UNP is quite bright :)

That said it would be great to have the input of animators on Loverslab. What body are you working with and which one gives the best results?

I heard from various armor makers that dealing with UNPB is just much more easier than CBBE for a reason that I keep forgetting.

But yea. UNPB has much more quality armors and clothing. and the body shape is realistic and it isn't outrageous unlike most people with their CB++ bodysliders. (no offense to all you huge boobies fans)

I switched to UNPB from cbbe and I don't think imma go back :D

Then again I"m using a custom race and my standalone followers all use UNPB but regular bodies use CBBe so I NPC can use chronotigger's amazing remolded armor for CBBE.

I use a sized down CBBE mesh myself and keep a UNPB install for checking out interesting armor mods. Heres pretty much my thoughts on the two.

1.) UNPB stock is bigger than my custom CBBE mesh....quite a bit bigger actually.

2.) The normal maps for UNPB look horrible to me...and this was using the same SG Textures Skin that has a version for CBBE and UNP, effectively the differences should be very minor, but they were actually quite major. My character Syvanna (keep in mind there are no head mesh changes when changing your body mesh out) looked completely different facially, using the UNP version of SG Textures as compared to how she looks using the CBBE version. So effectively I'd have to rework my whole face around the new normals and thats just not worth it at all.

3.) UNP/UNPB are no harder to work with than CBBE is a body mesh is a body mesh, the large difference here is there are a large amount of pre-developed UNP clothing meshes that Dimon99 put out with a free use license that new modelers and even experienced modelers can freely use to create UNP armor from, CBBE has no free mesh resources so the whole "easier to work with" myth actually derives from UNP having a fairly respectable amount of free license resources that people can use to develop and derive from.

Just because the overwhelming amount screenshot spam coming out of China, Korea and Japan seems to favor UNP/UNPB, simple facts are its because;

  • Its a lot easier to rip out meshes from Oblivion/FO3/FONV and convert them to the UNP body cause Type 3 was made by the same developer.

CBBE has had a lot of nice original armors made for it, and not many of them based on derivative work. UNP on the other hand has a lot of nice armors too, but almost 50% of it is derivative work from previous games/authors and even non-Beth games.

So anyways body is always a matter of taste but the whole argument of CBBE being harder to work with than UNP is kind of a half ass excuse. A mesh is a mesh. Its not as if CBBE requires anything different than UNP to work with. It just has a lot less stuff thats already predeveloped and easy to simply import into 3DS, tweak, and export and say voila, look, awesome armor.

I actually have a lot of respect for all armor developers but I have especially high respect for CBBE armor developers that aren't producing derivative work using pre-designed resources.
