Stable install, ran Nemesis, PC/NPC only idle

I'm at my wit's end trying to fix a weird issue I encountered tonight.

 

I just installed a few utility mods, one of which being "SICKM Skyrim Interface Controller Keyboard Mouse" and moved my install to a different hard drive.  Followed the guides on here to move profiles, change executable paths, rebuilt all bodyslide stuff, etc.

 

Ran LOOT and booted up the game, and things were working fine (generally).  Could jump, engage in combat, have sex, etc.  Decided I didn't like the above mod because it messed up the controlmap to make racemenu unusable when setting hotkeys.  At this point, the game was working fine.  Disabled the mod in MO2, ran LOOT again, and took its advice to patch and run Nemesis since I updated my XPMSE to a newer version.

 

Loaded the game back up.  All NPCs are frozen still, and the PC performs no animations except idles.  I can move/slide the character while she's undergoing idle animations, but can't jump/attack etc.

No mods were downloaded between this save working and not.

 

Re-enabled the mod.  Same ordeal.  Started a new save and got the same thing.  Deleted my Nemesis overwrite folder contents and rebuilt everything.  Still doing idles only but can move the character.  Dialog and menus still work as before.  Deleted the overwrite again and followed the guide to run FNIS and Nemesis concurrently in case I had a weird dependency on older animations.  Still the same thing.  Followed the process AGAIN in case I messed up, and still the same thing.

 

There's a ton of content out there regarding T-Posing, but PC and all humanoid NPC's are cycling idles fine.  With the folder contents wiped out and Nemesis re-run a ton of times, I'm really confused what could possibly be happening to disable everything except idle animations while still allowing the PC to move/slide around.

 

Has anyone any idea what might have happened or seen anything like this before, or next steps for troubleshooting?

Rubbish. That is an old piece of nonsense that has been around for years and people are still spouting it as if it is a fact. And I know about the supposed importance of the plug-in's number in the LO.

Thanks for the heads up.  Me at 3 AM apparently decided to ignore the FNIS warnings... though I will admit ignoring them used to be a bad habit I had in the past when it had the super verbose logs...  While I did run FNIS before, the warnings were a bigger issue which doesn't seem to be something only I'm having.  Why it just started being a problem, I'm not sure.

 

It seems the problem is running Estrus SE with any kind of nemesis setup.  Estrus SE throws warnings in FNIS when run, but seems to work when FNIS is running standalone without Nemesis in my short testing.  Maybe it'd take longer to manifest -- I don't know.

 

Other people having similar issues albeit with just FNIS it seems.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I can't help you with the Estrus part, I run LE (this is the LE section BTW) and Estrus works fine. At least you know what the problem is even if you can't fix it.

Question: Are you running Estrus from the Nexus in order to use Estrus Chaurus SE?  If so, you only need the animations and can disable the esp file.  Estrus was a mess on LE also, only one older version worked sorta and even it was pretty buggy.  I have not looked into SE versions but I imagine it's just a port which... would likely have the same bugs.

Nope, just as-is with no dependencies on it.  Can't believe I put this issue in the LE section... I really need to not make threads at 3 AM lol.

No worries, this one seems easier to find with the way it's laid out :)

 

If you are interested in still using the animations but don't care as much about when they fire off, there's a mod called FMEA which may work for you.  The last post in that thread is from a knowledgeable person indicated that even though the mod was created for LE, it may well work fine if you try it on SE.  One of its features is that if you go harvesting flowers etc, there's a chance for an estrus attack which is configurable.  In fact, if thats all you wanted you could shut down all the other modules in the mod except that one.  However, I find it to be quite fun and makes the game a bit more exciting when there's a chance that your lockpick attempt could sound an alarm :)  Among other things.

 

The other mod, besides Estrus Chaurus + that is, which also uses the same animations, is Deviously Enchanted Chests and that one has an SE port.  If you are using Devious Devices 4 you'd want to grab version 2.24 but if you are on DD5 you can get the latest version.  I use the older version under LE with DD4, and it can be configured to not lock you into anything at all and only do Estrus attacks randomly when looting a chest (although I haven't tried it that way, the sliders are there for it).

 

And that's about all I can think of at the moment.  Honestly the original Estrus mod needs alot of love from a mod author to work as intended so really better off just disabling the esp, keep the rest active so that Sexlab Animation Loader SE can see it, and there you go.  (Edit: although now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure the time I was trying to use OG Estrus I was also using SE, maybe it runs OK on LE.  but that's neither here nor there.) (Edit to the edit: Come to think of it, I always use Estrus Chaurus + to register the 6 animations from Estrus in SLAL, so I can't say if it can be done another way.)

Thanks for all the information! 

 

I'm pretty content with just leaving it off for now.  I'm more of a consentacle person without the pregnancy stuff, and the new estrus anims are much more interesting than the old ones.  EC+ just isn't for me.

 

From my understanding, the issues from the FNIS log seem to indicate that it's more of an animation issue from the new version than anything else.

 

Either way, here's hoping that maybe someone way more skilled than I eventually is able to sort the issue out.
