If, when you create the character from a new game, the saving is autimatic, after creation

If you have already created a character and you want to change it, there is no autosave, you have to re-save the game

If, before starting a game, you have auto-save disabled in all its parts, you must reactivate it

The character created after starting a new game, i.e. starting from a pre-existing game, you have to save the game, and, if you want to keep the character, you have to export Presets and Sculpture

im not sure if i even described this bug correctly but i was just looking into it again and it seems not to even be race menu its console commands that do this to my game its like it it forgets i have mods2033521008_SkyrimSpecialEdition5_23_202122_05_08.png.ab7abf66dd9ba9a3ca991f0a1388af71.png920857126_SkyrimSpecialEdition5_23_202122_05_00.png.990ea2f71dd972c9f7ef5b6aa0cae26b.png

Skyrim SE separates save files based on the character name. And whenever you see the field to enter your character name (aka the final step of using showracemenu) it treats future saves as a different character, even if the name is the same.

And about the saves being detected as Modded/normal: ideally you don't want Modded saves. That means achievements are disabled because you're using mods. You can install mods to remove this limit (oh the irony), like SSE Engine Fixes. If you don't care about achievements don't worry about that. If you always get Modded saves and after editing your character you get a normal save, it could be an auto save? I'm not so sure here because it's been years without worrying about saves.

well i dont really know but i was doing some testing and quick saved just to show what was happening even hard saves work like this so using Any console commands turns my modded save to unmodded basically treating this as a new save/character

and in that picture i literally just spawned in a item racemenu doesnt seem to be the problem its using the console that somehow un mods my saves and this is quite an annoying situation

But are you sure your mods are gone from that save? Or is just that the save is not listed as Modded? Because like I said that Modded or [M] tag in the save file only means you won't get achievements while playing that save.

If it's a big deal for you there are some ways to remedy the issue. For starters get an achievement unlocker mod (again, SSE Engine has a setting for this and it's what I use without problems). That way no saves will get tagged as Modded. Then you could look into a save manager or similar mod to do saves. If you edit your character and get the name prompt your saves will still be separated, that's simply how saves are handled by the game.

I've been using SSE engine fixes for the achievements (so I never have "Modded" saves) and use Named Quicksaves to manage my saves. I use 1 rotational save + 3 slots for auto saves every 10 minutes and my saves folder is clean and organized.
