thekilled Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 So I've run into this strange issue where whenever I try to save the game, be it a manual save, quicksave or autosave, I get a CTD. And without doing any changes to my load order, this has affected many of my previous save files that have been working as well. I have many save files to go through since I changed my quicksave to create a new file every time so I can go back in situations like this, and the problem is as follows: Save 926 is my most recent one, in the winterhold college interiors. I load it up, everything works fine, I can do whatever I want until I try to save. Saving CTDs. Looking at engine fixes' skse log I can see 'Error occurred trying to open file:' followed by the name of the save file ending in .tmp. Looking over in my save folder, the save file is there as a tmp file of 0 bytes. Looking in the crash logs, under possible relevant objects I see TESLevItem 000A297A, which I believe is related to the leveled list for spell tomes. So I thought that save file is fucked and I started going back a few saves at a time. I had to go all the way back to save 840 until I was able to save again without CTD'ing, and this is in my opinion weird since why do I CTD here now where I wasn't getting issues before. Why do I now CTD on saves on this save file that previously allowed me to keep playing (thus reaching 926 saves). But it doesn't stop here. Even if I can save without CTD'ing on save 840, I am once again unable to save the moment I load a save file created here. And the issue persists when loading earlier saves too. I load up save file 822, I can save fine. I load up the new save file I created after loading 822, and now I crash on saving. Clearly something happened, although I didn't change load order/configs between these saves. I've tried a few suggestions I've seen for other related issues, one I haven't been able to try is the player.kill autoload trick I've seen around. My game freezes whenever I load a save file after I am already ingame, so if I die I have to restart. I tried to clean my save but there was nothing to clean it seems. I also tried disabling mysticism (which is the only mod doing any changes to the mentioned leveled list except for the unofficial patch) with the same results. Basically I am at a loss on what to do at this point and I am looking for any suggestion I can try. I don't mind cleaning up my load order a bit and starting a fresh save, but I would prefer to continue on this one for a while longer. thekilled Posted May 19, 2021 Author Posted May 19, 2021 Hi, that actually worked! It seems I had 2 items on the leveled list that were causing the crash, as I initially had the issue even after clearing the two entries with resaver as mentioned in that post. Once I checked the crash log from the first cleaning, I realized the ID was different, and after clearing that one saving is once again working properly it seems. Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction
