Sometimes I can load the game, then exit the door (I save every time I am about to go outside, and always save on a new slot). I'm really baffled as to what could be causing this, I Know its not hardware as my specs blow even recomended outa the water. gregathit Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Envy, I am guessing that you have sorted your load order with BOSS...Yes? While that is great for most files it is terrible for lovers. You need to move all your lovers files down to the bottom of your load order and sort them per the faq: (see txt file at bottom of 1st post) http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=3 Also - go into your oblivion settings and DISABLE autosaves!!!! This sucker corrupts save games and is the cause of lots of CTD's like yours! EDIT: After straightening out your load order and getting everything working, it would behoove you to look into installing wrye bash to make a bashed patch. This will GREATLY help to stabilize your game. I know wyre tends to intimidate most folks but it really is not that bad. There is even a pictorial guide for it that will walk you through creating a bashed patch (just type "wyre" into the nexus search function and it will pull it up). Note: If you decide to get wrye in the future make sure you remember NOT to include any lovers esm/esp files in your bashed patch as it tends to break the scripts! There are other tips and programs to further stabilize Oblivion but take one step at a time! Programs like Streamline, OSR, 4GB patch and Game Companion are things to look at.
Envy Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 I'm under the impression it is not a simple load order issue. From what I have read here, I have all the lovers stuff properly ordered and the ones that MUST go at the end ARE at the end. I already have autosaves off, hence making a new manual save every time I save. As for bashed patch, I am really not planning on doing that as THIS site specificly states to NOT bash your lovers mods, and quite frankly most of my mods that are not lovers related I do not believe would have much if any effect from bashed patch. As far as external methods of not crashing, I have windom earl's crash prevention installed. I do appreciate you input on trying to solve my issue, but so far every issue I Have had, your input has mostly been check your load order, and use bashed patch. Almost all my non lovers or DLC are VERY simple mods like armors. I DO have my full load order listed, if you can point out any specific mods that could cause an issue with where they are, please do tell. At this point I have to believe its lovers mods conflicting with either the base game or eachother. I have seen lots of people on this site say they use boss with normal list and run fine, there is also a boss masterlist on this site that claims to order lovers mods properly, if that file doesn't do just that, it really should be removed. Currently I simply have oblivion modded to look nice (only on the character level no textures for anything else) to have lovers content, to have a few extra armors, and have a little bit of archery extras.

Sure you may have simple mods but too many mod makers make "dirty" edits that in cumulative total will destabilize your game. You are indeed correct in that you do not include lovers stuff into a batched patch as it tends to break its scripts. Anyway that is another story that doesn't get your lovers fixed today. As you stated it may not be a simple load order problem but the vast majority of the time it ends up being so. If you would read the faq you would see that your load order is not correct. While it may not be the whole problem it is a contributing factor. Unfortunately when it comes to mods that is what can be frustrating. You end up hunting down one problem after another and can get burned out. The best bet is to install mods a little at time making sure you are stable and making backups as you go. I think I did the load order right according to the merged mod instructions. gregathit Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Ok, lets take a different tack.... Is your game stable without any lovers stuff in it? Disable all lovers files and make a clean save. Exit oblivion and then restart it (again with no lovers files enabled) and load your clean save. Do you still have the CTD's?
Envy Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 Well, in the spirit of good testing, I went in and out of the door I was last saved at (with no lovers mods enabled) like five times, no crash. I fast Traveled to chorol, went in the inn, exited the inn, went to the chapel, tried to exit, and crashed. So, it is not lovers that causes the crash, lovers just makes it happen almost every time I exit an interior. gregathit Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Well, without using tools like tes4edit (which will show you conflicts) and wyre the only way I know how you can try to fix things is to disable all but your core mods. Drop all of the weapon & armor & effect mods and repeat your experiment. Then slowly add back in a couple of mods at a time and see if you can pinpoint the offending mod or mods. Even with all the tools sometimes this is the only way to track down crashes. I hear ya on the crash logs and if they don't fix it for skyrim I will hold them whilst you beat them half to death!!!!

Couple of things we can try if so are: 3GB patch - this allows oblivion to use more than 2GB of ram. http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23254 (read the 1st page of posts on the comments page as there are a couple with some real good info). Grizzly UK Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Couple of things that might be worth looking at: Unofficial Oblivion Patch Supplementals which extends the Unofficial mods by fixing even more bugs, errors and flaws. Quest Award Leveller - Now supports Battlehorn Castle as per the description: This is the complete original Quest Award Leveler 2.1.0, as created by Quarn. It has been fixed and cleaned with the program Raziel23x made, and compatibility with Battlehorn Castle has been added. While I doubt neither of these will stop your crash problems, they might just help reduce the overall number of problems you may have. I have to agree with gregathit, both Wrye Bash and TES4Edit are essential tools when using Oblivion mods. Just because "THIS site specificly states to NOT bash your lovers mods" is no reason not to use a Bashed Patch at all! It's simply a warning not to include any Lovers mods in the Bashed Patch. If you've never looked into what using a Bashed Patch can do for your game, then you're simply missing out on a whole load of extra functions that can enhance your game play experience as well as helping to resolve mod conflicts. TES4Edit will allow you to quickly and easily find and correct even more mod conflicts! I'd suggest that you move the Thieves Den, Battlehorn Castle, Frostcrag and Knights .esp's earlier in your load order, placing them with all your other DLC .esp's. Double check readme files, it's quite easy to miss a vital piece of info. Also remember to check other things such as OBSE, OBGE etc.
