Thank you.  I had to get to this point.  I stated the same in the OP, but there was so much else going on, I couldn't have identified even which mod was the problem.  I thank you and the others who have pointed me to better methods.  Actually, I am 60-something in a FO4 game now with a lot of mods.  What I've learned here means I understand now that I didn't set that up correctly AT ALL.  Modding a game really is an artform, isn't it? I cant imagine the thought and understanding that goes into actually creating one of these amazing mods.
