Installing another copy of Skyrim

Hiya,

I already have the original steam Skyrim installed, and that's all jolly and fine. However, for other purposes, I wish to install another copy of skyrim for more discreet purposes, haha. I'm sure that you're all saying that I should just install whatever mods I should on the first copy, but I don't want to taint it. That is, I want to leave my original skyrim alone from the mods that I'm bound to install from the adult section of this forum, bwhaha.

So my question is: How can I create another copy of skyrim in another folder? Do I just move the .bsa? If so, doesn't that still require me to use steam to log in?

Hi, i have 2 installations of skyrim. Two things are necessary:

1. in steamapps/common create a new directory named "skyrim2" or something else and copy everything from the original Skyrim-directory in this new one. Then you can decide to which Skyrim-installation you want to add mods to. When you want to switch from one installation to the other you have to exchange the names of the skyrim directories. You can name the unwanted one how you like, but the wanted one has to be named "Skyrim". You cannot simply start skyrim from the secondary directory because it would try to load the mods from the "skyrim" directory

2. You may do the same with your savegame-directory, but you can also just enter a prefix to your characters like "Vanillla_furbymurby" and "modded_furbymurby" to sort them, so you dont accidently load up a "wrong" savegame.

Or you can use ModOrganizer, which is mostly NMM compatible (sometimes you'll need to unpack a file and rebuild it with the stuff that's usually inside the Data folder at the top level). This allows you to create profiles that correspond to different mod combinations.
