Guest Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 I have found a little problem while trying to install ENBoost for Skyrim, the moment I launch the game fro SKSE I get the message "Skyrim Launcher has stopped working; windows is checking for a solution to the problem" , I have the ENBlocal.ini set, the problem comes from the d3d9 file, when I take it out the problem goes away but I can't use ENBoost without it so what do I do?

What changed? Have you just started using ENBoost or have you updated it? Either way double-check what you have done.

I have just started installing cuz it was recommended along side Crash Fixes. What do you mean by " double-check what you have done " What am I supposed to be double checking, and what could have I done wrong?

So you are one of those people who never make a mistake? Sorry, I didn't realise. Don't talk such shit. First rule of trouble-shooting anything: go back and review what you have done. Which guide did you use?

Hey calm the fuck down that's not what I said, I just said I didn't know what I could've done wrong, clearly I have made a mistake that is why I'm here, I don't know what mistake I made though that's what I meant, I'm asking people who have dealt with this problem or know about it how to fix it. I've tried the injector version, it wouldn't work, I tried the wrapper version and went by the installation instructions provided and I got the problem I have now, I used this guide here Spoiler and got the same problem and here we are. I'm sorry that I came across that way.
Grey Cloud Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Right, I've just had a quick view of the video and there are several things I disagree with but first are you using ENBOOST or are you planning on using an ENB preset? ENBoost is basically the memory management part and can be used without a preset. The preset is the pretty graphics part and needs the ENBoost part. You should be using the wrapper version unless there is a specific reason not to. I use this guide: https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/SkyrimLE:ENBoost (Seems they have 'improved' it since last I visited) https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/Guide:ENBlocal_INI 1. Use the wrapper version. 2. The three files - enbhost.exe, enblocal.ini and d3d9.dll go into the Skyrim folder (where the game executable is) not in the Data folder. Drop the three files in manually - do not use your mod manager. 3. Configure the relevant parts of enblocal.ini to your machine. Be careful of typos or editing the wrong line etc. 4. Make sure you get this line right: [GLOBAL] UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=false [That is for using a preset] [If you have things right then you will see white text in the top left of the load screen] [GLOBAL] UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=true [That is for using just ENBoost] [If you have things right then you will see red text in the top left] This line is generally recommended to be set to false: [MEMORY] ExpandSystemMemoryX64=false [See the paragraph in the enblocal guide]
