Cloning an Object With Missing Files

Ok, this one is stumping me. One of my more used files is a garter belt from xSims.de. Love it. Has a cute bow in the front middle and comes in 3 colors.

 

But when I try to export it to work on it in TSRW, It shows up the "afAccessoryGlovesLongGoth" and has no textures, multipliers or a clothing specular. Just a part mask. This makes absolutely no sense and to me should not work it the game.

 

Yet it does.

 

The package file only has 7 parts, the CASP, three "_IMG" files and three "THUM's" 

 

I wanted to use it as an example to make my own version as an accessory, but now I'm a bit confused. Any thoughts?

Sounds like it was made using CTU. There should be a line or several lines in the CASP stating this if you open it in s3pe. You can try downloading CTU and using that to open and edit it, or use s3pe to extract the multiplier, and other img files, then open a generic accessory in TSRW to import those imgs to and start from there.

 

Why a garter would use gloves? Unless it is because of multiple CASP per location issues. What you call a garter is called suspenders. At least, this is what I gather. The belt that is around the waist/ hips and holds up stockings??? So, a suggestion to you on your project is to rename your suspenders to the right garter category. Also make sure it has a higher overlay priority than stockings, or remember to always add them after you add stockings so they will show over the stockings.

Managed to extract the overlays for the clips/straps with CTU. This is a lot of work for a recolor!

Without knowledge of the Garter itself, I make a blind observation - It could've been made before the legs garters were included in the game.

 

After thinking this - I did some searching and I had 'thought' they were made available with the Nightlife EP. I can't find anything concerning default Garters though with Sims 3.

 

Also Having a garter as gloves would allow a Sim to use it in combination with stockings. One must always remember the default state of the Sims 3 sometimes - we are kinda spoiled with things like 'Multiple Accessories per location'. I have a toenail polish which is in the rings section for example. This was the only one a mermaid could use - EA is silly sometimes....

Welcome to my world! You must ask yourself... Do I want it? Do I really really want it??? The answer to those questions determines whether you continue and make that piece of CC that you can't find elsewhere, or do without. )))

Ultimately, the goal is to covert this into an accessory.

3d accessories are a PITA, and for that, yes, you would need a mesh for the suspenders that morphed perfectly with the nude bottom mesh. Because if it is an accessory, the game will generate a default bottom. As an accessory overlay with creative shading would also work.
