[SOLVED] Deleted overwrite outputs/targets in MO2, can't launch skyrim through SKSE or use other execs.

I had a problem with my game not launching, so I deleted my overwrite output directories because I thought they would rebuild automatically. They did not, and now I can't launch my game via SKSE or use other things like Bodyslide. I keep getting the messages below on everything I try to use. I think there was something that built all of those outputs, but I don't remember what it was. Can someone please help me fix this issue? I can't find a single thing online and I don't understand how to fix it otherwise.

You don't know how things work uh. Ok, so not judging here but: if you don't know, don't touch, don't delete, don't assume. These outputs are manually created mods to contain certain files, this is a deliverate action by the user. And no, they don't regenerate automatically.

You can always learn how to use MO2 and the related programs. That's usually step 1, so you can avoid problems like this one.

So for an easy solution for your current issue, if you can restore these folders from the recycle bin totally do that. That's the easiest solution here.

If you can't do this you'll need to create these outputs again.

  1. Right click somewhere in the left panel, find the "Create empty mod" option and select it (it can be right in the contextual menu or under "All Mods" depending on where you right click exactly).
  2. You'll need to use the exact same name of the folders you deleted.
  3. You'll also need to use whatever programs to regenerate the files that were inside these folders. So good luck if you have no idea about the specifics...

I did that, which got them back, and it DID fix that problem but now my SKSE won't launch alongside my Bodyslide not launching either. It was the problem I was initially trying to fix. Should I just make a new thread for that since this was technically solved?

I did try that which was as hard to do as you said so restoring them from the recycling worked. Do you know how to fix the problem I initially had where I could not launch my game's SKSE due to something likely crashing?

Not with the information you've provided. First thing would be check if you have any notification in MO2 (it's the ! in a red triangle icon near the Run button). That usually tells you if there are any missing master or incompatible/outdated skse plugin (which are the most common reasons to crash at launch/prevent the game from starting). If that doesn't give you any clue you'll need to trace back your steps, was the game working at some point? then you'll need to identify which changes you made until the game doesn't launch.

I did that and managed to find a mod causing the issue! Thank you for the help.
