Deumos Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Hi. I'm going insane trying to lessen the nuclear effect of HDR when it reflects off surfaces (buildings, characters). I've tried to edit these: [blurShaderHDRInterior] fBrightScale=0.7500 fBlurRadius=3.5000[blurShaderHDR] fBrightScale=0.5000 fBlurRadius=3.0000 But it makes no difference, I'm still going blind, even during rainy days: [spoiler=Example] What can I do to lessen it?
Deumos Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 They don't? O.o What about direct links? EDIT: Ah yes, now that I CTRL + F5'd I see that the pictures were no longer showing up. That's strange. Thanks for letting me know. <.<
cobme Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I'm no expert but maybe giving Real Light 0.7.2 by Josef K is worth a shot ? http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/10891
DogOnPorch Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 It may seem a bit counterproductive, but how does it look using Bloom Lighting? Another setting that often gets ignored is the master light bar in video settings...if it's above half on my rig, Oblivion gets too bright to play.

HDR imo is only useful for those who like to take lots of scenic screenshots, for actually playing the game Bloom is far better as it gives a much more "warm" feel to the environment.

Yes...I like Bloom for playing as well. But, to each his/her own. Adding Natural Environments also tends to affect the game's lighting. http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/2536

Unfortunately, I can't try that as I have a whole bunch of mods that requires HDR to be enabled rather than using bloom. I shall have a look at the brightness bar however, not tried that yet. But nothing else is bright really, just the reflection from light sources on surfaces like walls and skin textures.
Deumos Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 set "bDoSpecularPass=0" in oblivion ini file. Hm, interesting, thank you. I googled it a bit and came up with this: WARNING : Be careful using the bDoSpecularPass=0/1 performance tweak, it can cause Oblivion to fast crash back to the desktop when in certain areas; Skingrad Castle courtyard for one. Disabling dDoSpecularPass also appear to be responsible (in whole or in part) for terrain not being effected by fog weather effects; this is where objects in the world - trees, plants, buildings etc. - appear correctly fogged, but the ground surface doesn't, giving the other objects a sort of 'milky' appearance. While I really want to remove that extreme HDR reflection, I'm not fond of the side effects of disabling this.
