DevilFireSmile Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Not sure if it's the right place to request support on this part of the game, but considering I'm running mods from LoversLab, I've decided to ask here. My problem is - I can't start dawnguard dlc. Before asking I've been searching for similar topics on internet and none was representing my case exactly. I have Steam version of the game. I can access the cave leading to Dawnguard fort and start quest there My .esm or .esp is active. However, not on level 10 nor beyond, Durak EVER approaches me. Guards of the cities mention anything BUT Dawnguard, so I can't start quest through them. To summarize, I technically can start Dawnguard, but I can't start it "properly". Hope someone could advise me possible solution. Problem with quest trigger has been solved with introduction of an *alternative* trigger in form of this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23617?tab=description Fortunately, I haven't yet discovered Hall of the Vigilant on my latest save, so right upon arrival to Downstar after visiting HotV I was greeted by.. (you've guessed it) Durak! But even if you already have discovered HotV, it still wouldn't hurt to try this fix. Good luck!
Just Don't Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Several mods change the level required to start that quest. This is likely your case, so check your mods and find which one is doing it.

This is likely your case, so check your mods and find which one is doing it. One that comes to mind is "Better Vampires" - does it change the level requirement? All other mods are SL related, mostly. Edit: Also running Unofficial SSE patch, if that changes anything.
Just Don't Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 The ones I can remember are Requiem and Timing is Everything. If you're using the later you can adjust the level in its MCM. I can't remember others, but this is a relatively common change for mods that adjust difficulty, alter vampires, quest and so on. So you should a) post a loadorder for others to see or b) check that yourself.

Just Don't Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 I don't recognize any plugin that could be doing that in your loadorder. You can check the record to see if any mod is changing it in xEdit/zEdit. Launch your chosen editor with your entire loadorder enabled, go to Dawnguard.esm, expand "Global" and find the "DLC1VQMinLevel" record, check what value has. Example in zEdit: I'm using a mod to change the starting level to 25, you can see the vanilla "FLTV value" of 10 for Dawnguard.esm and the same value of 25 for the mod plugin, so if I were to play with these record changes I would need to be level 25 in order to trigger the Dawnguard quest. If you don't find any mods changing that record you won't see anything besides Dawnguard.esm for this record (for example that dawnguardlevel25.esp wouldn't be there if it didn't contain that record). So if you still can't find a mod editing this record I'm out of clues. Perhaps there is another way of disabling/affecting this quest start, or it's some other error that is preventing this quest from starting even when you meet the required level.

You could try in a new game with the same loadorder, level up with console commands (ex. player.setlevel 10) and go to a major city to see if the orc from DG or the guards/innkeepers have the dialogue to start the quest. If not I would try the same with no mods, and then with a few mods active at a time.

If not I would try the same with no mods, and then with a few mods active at a time. I've been waiting on my female character at level around 20-30 with no luck. Started male nord just recently with aim to start Dawnguard properly, and has been on my toes right after I hit level 10 in Whiterun - waiting, entering/exiting buildings, keeping my eye on that npc, speaking with guards. Only option for me - experiment with unmodded game. And to be honest, not in the mood for that. Will have to start DLC by traveling right to it's location, however immersion breaking that might be.
