[Solved] Weapon drawing issue - backshields mod was causing issues and reset note had to be retrieved after quest to reset for fix

Okay,

 

Skyrim does not like. And I am beginning to think that's on equal terms with my relationship with the game. Everything went fine in the past 2 hours of running from High Hrothgar to Solitude for the quest to infiltrate the Thalmor Embassy. However, ever since retrieving my gear I can't really draw anything, or attack anything. Dropping stuff / reassigning stuff works until I sheath the weapons again. Restarting / reloading does not work.

I've read that it's a fairly old bug so hopefully someone has a solution, because that last working save is 2 hours old.

 

€ Cleaning a save won't work either.

Have you tried simply enabling all player controls?  "epc" in the console.

Neither "epc" nor  "enableplayercontrols" fix the issue.

I had this issue happen again on a 2nd playthrough. As soon as I get my stuff back from Malborn I can only rudimentary un/sheath stuff. The same happens when I get my stuff back from Delphine after completing the quest where I can do stuff for a few seonds until it breaks again. Not even sure how to tackle that shit but it prevents me from playing the damn game. ?

 

€ I'm kinda carefully optimistic at this point, but after completing the quest I narrowed it down that I couldn't do stuff after casting my healing spell. I've tried "enableplayercontrols" multiple times at right now I can do things again. I'm continuing to monitor this but right now I'm just exhausted by the bullshit this game is throwing at me.

well one thing some may overlook (I have in the past, and tbh, I still don't pay much attention to my buffs until I'm forced to by some NPC comment or a strange inability to do something )... check for disease in your buffs. I've had instances where I couldn't move, or sword wielding was limp-wristed, or I couldn't use magic, or I couldn't shout, due to a disease I had acquired but allowed to fester until it was "serious".

Good call. Happened to me before. Unfortunately, no such thing present here at all.

 

I am investigating the mod auto equip backshields. A first test is showing promise.

It was indeed the mod backshields that was causing the issue here.

I didn't bring the note on backshields into the embassy itself and couldn't reset it there. Had to get back to Delphine and retrieve my gear.

However, simply using the note and resetting the backshields mod will clear the issue. I just don't have to forget that solution again...
