Toddler glitch?

So I had two sims make a baby, the baby aged up (or rather I made it age up) and two things happened that have me scratching my head, the first thing is that the toddler had tan skin and black hair when the mother has really pale skin and pink hair and the father has caucasian skin and blond hair (and he is the father I checked the child's family tree) and the second thing I noticed, and this is the creepy part, the toddler had solid glowing green eyes.. like Spawn or something.

 

I mean something just seems off about all of that. Are toddlers supposed to look NOTHING like their parents or is there something else going on, and if they are just randomly rolled (that kind of laziness wouldn't surprise me honestly) are there any mods to change that?

I've had a toddler sim come out looking nothing like his parents once before but that was only once so it is not a stretch to say that it is just a glitch with the genetics that could be caused by certain cosmetic mods (though I experienced the glitch in a lightly modded game years ago).
