AAF question

Been curious to try this mod, alongside themes for poses and shooting screens. However, do I need some sort of patch for custom races? I recall trying AAF with both the Amelia race and the Vulpine earlier this year and while I was not getting any sort of error (that I could tell from the wizard) I could not get my character to be detected.

 

Maybe there is a step I missed, but if I understand correctly; I use a manager to install AAF, then install a theme, and that should be everything to run it in game. The wizard shows up as normal and I get the pop up that the theme has been installed. I would greatly appreciate any help or guidance on the matter.

Some additional XML files are needed for races beyond the vanilla ones. But, as far as I know, most custom races have those XML already built as optional files.
