Character traits management issue

Hello all.

When I request to view a Sim's profile, it displays incomplete. In addition, after several tries, the profile is no longer displayed at all. I reported this concern on a Sims 4 forum, and was told it could be due to custom traits.
So I removed all the character traits related to WW. And it worked, but not for all Sims.
Example of a situation with a couple of Sims: one of them goes to the festival of love. There, the profiles are displayed very well. But as soon as he returns home, in contact with his spouse, the problem begins again.
Can anyone help me?

Need more information first.

Any other mods installed?

Did you also delete your localthumbcache.pkg in your TS4 folder.

It's something that needs to be done whenever you add, remove, or update mods or the game itself.

Yes, I did it several times.

But I've just tried again. It worked right until I asked for a specific Sim profile which made the bug occur again. In the profile of this specific Sim, a trait is has been added when I didn't request it ("lover" in the last occurence). I noticed this several times.

Could be a corrupted game, or sim/s, or game save.

1. Do an Origin Repair and test again.

Delete the localthumbcache before loading game.

2. Cut/Paste all your mods to a temp folder on your desktop but leave the Resource.cfg alone.

Delete the localthumbcache again

Load game without any mods but only to the map screen then 'save as' testing' or something and then exit game.

Next installing WW + Animations and load the new test save you just made and test in game again.

Now you can load your active played household for testing.

Don't make any new saves just exit when done testing.

If now working you can install MCCC + Woohoo.

If problem comes back now you should look in your MCCC folder and delete any .cfg files there are as some settings might be messed up.

Hi, Scorpio.

Thanks a lot for supporting.

I've done all you explained, step by step and exactly as you described.

Unfortunately, the issue remains the same.

I give you more detail, maybe it will help.

I have 2 Sims living in the same house. Say Sim A and Sim B.

  1. When A is selected and active, if I ask for B profile, all is OK. B profile is displayed complete. And I can request any other profile, all is OK. I can also play any other Sim (except B), all is OK.
  2. But, when B is selected and active, if I request for any profile, it's displayed partially. And then, no other profile request is fullfilled, whatever Sim is active. And all the game is impacted.

Then when I quit the game and restart it, the situation is re-initialized (restart at point 1 above).

I don't understand what's corrupted or missing.

Something else (maybe not related) : Sims B regularly starts cooking something, and loops on this action indefinitely. This Sim seems corrupted, even if I force it to stop. The only way to fix it is to throw the meal away.

Have you an idea?

Bye from France?

Yes it sound like your Sim B is bugged and might be related to a hidden trait but not guaranteed.

Just happened to me with my single male sim recently.

Luckily I had a saved copy of him in my gallery/library.

First I emptied all his inventory into a storage chest and onto the ground.

Used MCCC to change his name to something different.

Then I went into library and added my backup copy to my household and tested to find this sim didn't have the same bug as my other original one did.

After a bit more testing I decided to delete my original sim.

Only problem was my new sim didn't have any relationships now whereas my old sim was good friends with like 100+ other sims and romantic with a few others.

Had to start all over again with meeting all the sims again.

If you don't have a backup sim sometimes you can evict them and save to your library and that might fix them but not always.

Other than using MCCC to look for hidden traits on the broken sim and remove them there isn't much else to try fixing them.

Usually once a sim gets broken they are trash.

Hi.

I tried all you advised... no success.

I also tried to add a Sim in the family, created from scratch. Same problem. In fact, its seems that both of them were corrupted.

The only way I found to fix it is to evict these 2 corrupted Sims and load 2 other ones from my own library, healthy and looking like the corrupted ones.

And, as you, restart all their lives from scracth.

Many thanks for your advices and support.

Bye

Sounds like the household was broken then and not just one sim.

It's a pain to start over but I use MCCC cheats to get their skills, trait rewards, and careers back to where they were before.

Sometimes you can load an older game save that had them both working before the glitch happened but it doesn't always work.

Normally this is used when you think your current game save is corrupted.

Better if you're playing the same game save for a long time so less progress is lost.

I used MCCC to help too.

After having created replacement Sims from scratch, it worked right for several Sims days.

But, the bug is back now.

I really don't understand.

Anyway, thanks again, Scorpio.

I'd try removing all mods again and delete the localthumbcache and test again without any mods.

And/or try loading a new game.

It could be a possible game bug so it has to be tested without any mods.
