Venus Rising first decent AAA quality adult MMO?

Hey guys I came across this today.

Looks like it has potential to be a really good adult MMO.

 

It has a dev team who have worked on several MMOs in the past including Everquest 2, SWG, Planetside 2 and others.

 

The stuff they have so far looks pretty impressive

Oh yes. Looks awesome, like a more impressive Socalatron.

 

However, my ideal playstyle would be that of roleplaying a simple female hunter/civilian, with a rape fantasy element. They make no mention whether (player consensual) noncon will be a part of the game. If its just 'raid, then go for an orgy' that might end up pretty samey and dull.

Well, during that period there HAS been a lot of non-con acts. If they aim for a certain level of realism, they might add that, with the underlining fact that, players aware of this, give their consent.

Yeah, would be nice, but i'm used the game devs wussing out (so to speak) when it gets to crunch time.

 

Game of Thrones and the various mods and japanese RPGMaker games have ruined me in that regard. I find games that try and impliment sex and do it in a very vanilla way 'cute, but dull' as opposed to interesting. I find PG13 fantasy setting even more dull these days. 'Aw, aint that cute... but its WRONG!'.

 

As long as its allowed in roleplay i'm sure i'll still be able to enjoy it, but without further info I imagine even that might be heavily disapproved of.

 

I've signed up to the forum to ask, but we'll have to see what the 'community' thinks.

Ya I'm kind of a glass half empty guy, so take this for what it is:

I doubt they will allow rapeplay simply because people are still so puritanical about sex. At least they are here in America.

Allowing anything extreme will no doubt get the moral police up in arms. Even most porn enthusiasts will still be leery about it.

Even I get a bit uncomfortable with Noncon. Though I know its fantasy, it still gives me a little "this is bad" feeling because of my upbringing

And hey, I dislike having it as a fetish, also because of my upbringing and because i'm a generally nice bloke who wouldn't hurt a fly, or wish anyone hurt. Theres just something about seeing it on screen in a game/film/porn that gets to me more than any other type of fantasy material. Sucks but there you go.

 

Then again it actually seems to straddle the line of acceptable and not these days; its a common fantasy amongst women supposedly, its in enough media, and so forth. Not that I want to get into a debate over the morality of noncon fantasy, as i've noted I don't like having it as a fetish, but there is a reason sexploitation films were all the rage decades ago.

It gets even stranger. Sometimes the man is played by woman and then proceeds to have sex with woman played by man. Might be fun for both (possibly enlightening too... who knows), but certainly I find that amusing.

I wouldn't necessarily deem this game "AAA" tbh. The animations and combat look pretty sub-par and we have little idea about things like enemies, economy, and player influence on the world. Will this be an "amusement/theme park" MMO or a dynamic/player-driven one? Aside from the sex aspect there isn't much appeal. Although Roman style orgies at Roman style parties would be quite the spectacle. As for noncon content, I'd like to see it, but it's unlikely.

Its more if they will allow players to roleplay noncon, as it can evolve pretty natrually without gameplay support. Age of Conan had its unwelcome instances of it for some players. I'm just hoping that it will be allowed between willing players, and not outright aganst the ruelz.

 

Thus far no one has even responded to my post on their forum however, so meh. If the community isn't mature enough to even discuss such topics, then I probobly don't want to be part of it.

Yah sorry AAA is the only word I could think of, but its not a good metaphor. I guess what I was going for is "decent graphics,  and not just a sex mini-game or a red light district knock off"

 

Its pretty AAA compared to alot of the other adult games out there, at least in the west.

See I am a role player, and separating the player from the character comes very naturally to me in gaming. If it were a tabletop game with the dude sitting 4 feet away, yah I prolly wouldn't go there, but I play on a lot of adult NWN servers. I know most of the women there are really guys, but if they are good roleplayers who can play the part it doesn't really matter to me.

 

I guess I am more open to it as Gender Bending is another one of my major fetishes.

At the end of the day Roleplaying is writing the character. Ever find a scene in Song of Ice and Fire arousing? Fapped to a scene with Daenarys? George Raymond Richard Martin is the man behind the character, and probobly 'enjoyed' it himself as he was writing. Same for any book with adult scenes and a male author. Enjoy yours books. >
