ashealba Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Found an article from like 2014 about this issue. People were talking about how only one person ever actually created Skyrim mods from DAZ products, that what she did was against DAZ licensing, and was banned from everywhere for her Demonica custom follower. Now 6 years later, I imagine DAZ still has their licensing parameters in place to prevent DAZ stuff from being used as Skyrim mods. Demonica is still kicking/being updated these days of COVID--at this Ruskie site I visit sometimes. I myself modded Krista's Demi girl so she has a custom facial anim TRI. Also modified the textures, and some aspects of the original body. She got a working hooha. My goal now is to fashion a brand new Skyrim/DAZ follower "framework" that allows any DAZ model FBX to be aligned for use as a custom follower. Thus far, I have gotten to the stage where I need to tweak my Skyrim skeleton so it fits exactly onto a DAZ model body--and moves the same as UNP/CBBE/etc. Painting weights in a modelling app is much harder than slapping a fresh coat of mauve on my 50lbs pair of HEXes. But I am learning. Why I resurrected this old discourse is to ask you guys now... is this STILL true? Has it been all these years and only one person ever "publicly" worked out how to successfully use DAZ models in the Rim?? And if not, can we talk about them here?
Andy14 Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Others did too, not just Krista. However, not published because it is illegal without a Game Developer License (now the Interactive License). That was done for Skyrim, Fallout 4, and maybe other games as well. If you don't publish anything, but only use it privately, everything is fine. However, a license is required for publication.
