asmina Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Alako threatened me with harm and disfigurement if I didn't make a post here, so here I am The Verse is a rags interactive text game about a young woman named Kaylee Summers who is thrust into a dangerous futuristic world. She will need to learn how to survive in a world that is very cruel and unjust. The strong dominate the weak and in general women are treated as objects to be used. If the world wasn't dangerous enough Kaylee needs to learn how to deal with constant attempts of some unknown force trying to control her mind. If she's not careful, she could end up becoming a slave to those who are in power. It is my first attempt at creating a rags game, or any other interactive story for that matter. There are definate adult situations in the game however I'm trying to create a story first, adult game second. Just remember, I'm a newbie at this so be gentle Current build: (Version 0.2b) http://www.mediafire.com/?tgjwo7h2k6afxzj The Verse Blog: http://versegame.blogspot.com/ [spoiler=Known bugs in current version]The guys in the alley are real jerks and will take all your money even if you submit. Better be extra careful! John doesn't recognize the Taurus gun if you try to take a shift with it
Anon989 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Sounds cool, I'll let you know how it goes after I try it out edit Just tried it and it seems pretty good so far. If I may be so bold to make a suggestion though, shouldn't sleeping heal you more? I noticed I got back like 1 or 2 hp every time, but that seems a bit low given your character's natural healing ability that is mentioned in the story. But anyway, that's just my opinion, so do with it what you will lol.
Nonsense667 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Heheh. Sorry, I MAY have had a hand in suggesting said threatening. And it's been absolutely brilliant so far. I think your game and Alako's are two great pairs, both very different takes, and both very enjoyable. I can't wait to see how yours comes along!

Considering you can have 20 health max, you would heal from greviously wounded (1hp) to fully healthy in 4 nights. I would consider that a greatly excellerated healing rate compared to normal humans. I guess I can untied and release you now. Aw darn, and I was having so much fun. Did I say that out loud?

Sparlimb Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Fun stuff! I'm lovin' this surge of RAGS here on LL
XJ347 Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I like the expansion. Still the best part for me is the surrender scene to the bandit in the intro. The loss of control and hopelessness you articulate is extremely well written and the music really makes it feel tragic, I think that one scene is the best written rape scenes in any game, period. My personal opinion anyways, I also liked the jobs random chance to have a special scene. The waitress ones are GOOD, cant wait for the security guard job to get some!
paddy01 Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Hi asmina, thought I'd check your game out to see what all the RAGS fuss was about, started playing your game and I'm enjoying it so far... problem is that I don't think I've got that far. I'm probably being unbelievably stupid but I can't find the Earl Grey tea anywhere! XD Its in the storeroom right? I just can't see it It's maddening, pls help!

Little things like that can be tough when you're not used to rags games. When in doubt, right click everywhere
cereburn Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Yeah, careful with that. Some 'everywhere' interpretations will get your face slapped... just sayin'
Trot Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I just gave this a try, and I love it! Well written all around, and I love Mr. Bang. My only sad part was when I lost to the scrapper in the junkyard, and learned the dark slavery path wasn't in yet. There's so much great potential with the gangs and the setting, I can't wait for more. Thanks!
cih Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Hello, After I played for a bit with this game, it filled me with mixed feelings. When I read first about it, I downloaded it and then created my character thinking how I will be putting the poor girl into bad situation after bad situation. Then I watched the intro and was like.... NOOOOOO I can't do that to her. I am really impressed with your writing skills. I don't recall a game that managed to capture my attention that much since Mass Effect. You have very nice combat mechanic that looks simple and doesn't draw the attention from the story. Didn't noticed any bugs (besides the thugs being jerks) and didn't had any problems following the story or finding things to do. It is a great game so far and I am sure it will become even greater. It is definitely one of the best RAGS games I have played. I'll add a question/suggestion in spoiler. Since my first char had all flaws and traits, I noticed that often I spot or see things (due to perception I guess). Wouldn't it be nice to add some text that informs you that you have found it due to being perceptive (same for the other traits as well)? This could be useful for testing during development and to distinguish events that just happened to you as a quest event or things that happened due to your abilities. cih
fritz_t_coyote Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Good game. A promising start. I like the number of mysteries and potential storylines that are hanging there, waiting to be fleshed out. Now all I need is to find a brown coat and a can of Blue Sun cola.
Polonium Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I liked the game a lot, but could you make a list of in-game events? I'd like to see everything in this game, it's just that good.
asmina Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 I thought about putting in a little OOC notification that you triggered something with a trait, but I think that may break character a little too much, plus make things obvious that there is a trigger there. I haven't fully made up my mind either way yet. I don't plan on putting a list of stuff in until later on. It's just that much extra work for me to do when I want to focus on development.
cereburn Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 FYI, this game is still being worked on. Status updates at http://versegame.blogspot.com/
teremaster Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 i don't want to discourage you or anything, i love the game and everything that's been done, a true masterpiece. but you will DEFINITELY turn people off with the use of anime pictures.
