aktzv Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 Hi, Please can you give me advice on which of my mods can interfere with dragons, or draining of dragon soul? I struggle with freezing of my game exactly when i kill a dragon and it starts to ignite. It all begins after the last update of Skyrim Special EditionI (1.5.97), but on other sites, I didn't found any other bug yet. I was trying to switch off mod by mod, update the driver of my pc, run LOOT and SSEEdit, etc. But I still can't find a reason or solution for this problem. So please can you give me advice on which mod can mess with my game and cause this issue? Also if I run just SkyrimSE launcher, not SKSE. It didn't happen, and I was able to drain a soul. (But then it freeze when I try to load save file after killing. Anyway, thank you for your support.

That was almost a year ago (1.5.97 was released around november 2019). What happened recently was some new SKSE releases and some mods updating too for that SKSE version. AFAIK Racemenu 0.4.15 was causing crashes when absorbing dragon souls. So verify that you're using the most up to date one (0.4.16) if you're on SKSE 2.0.19. 18 minutes ago, aktzv said: Also if I run just SkyrimSE launcher, not SKSE. You're removing SKSE (and every SKSE dependent mod) of the equation. So you're not fixing nor pinpointing the reason for the crash. And if you intend to keep playing in that save you'll likely break even more stuff.

If yes, you have my great thanks. It's also weird that Vortex, or LOOT didn't warn me that I have an outdated mod, as it usually does. And for me is 1.5.97 recent. Because i was playing skyrim for at least year. Because my character back then get CTD or freeze every time i were trying to save it. And even Fallrim didn't help. So I wasn't feeling to play it all over from beginning and was quite angry at skyrim so it took me a year to return to play it. :D And by using SkyrimSE I just wanted mainly to test if my PC isn't that cause, if my PC is able to handle that absorbing effect and etc. Because I was suspicious that before, every time when I kill a dragon it get CTD. Then I freed around 150GB of memory at my PC, and then i t just freeze after killing.

I don't know about Vortex, but usually any tool checking for updates would tell you there was a new version available. But don't expect a tool to tell you exactly what's the issue all the time. Vortex, LOOT and similar tools can only get a few obvious errors and report them as potential problems. In this particular case the RM 0.4.15 version had a critical bug causing the crashes, but it was technically up to date (it was made with the latest SKSE version in mind, and was a recent release), so Vortex or LOOT didn't point RM as the culprit here (while users were reporting errors left and right and in a couple of days there was a new RM release with the bug fixed). In the end is up to you to check for updates and information about all the things you have installed. The previous issues you comment are likely related to this lack of keeping up and searching for information.

And yes, I agree with you. But it's not easy to keep track about 84 installed mods and manually check each if there is no update. But as I can see now, I cant rely on Vortex or LOOT with that. So thank you for your support. And I will keep an eye on that :)
