casey ray Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 im kinda desperate here, i just got a new computer up and running after my last hard drive fried. the only thing that i have running that both my old computer and the new one have in common is the patches i run from here and oblivion itself and ive seen similarities to the one that died. have you heard of any virus embeded in some of the programs on this site? or know of anything that could cause a hard drive to up and die like that? i really dont want to replace another hard drive especially this new one and i dont want to give up the mods either. im also slightly new to modding so if there is anything other than installing correctly that i might not know about... please help how ever you can.
Jerbsinator Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I've never seen a virus or anything like that on this site ever and I highly doubt that there is anything like that. Plus, a hard drive isn't going to fail from a virus unless it's a real nasty one. If your hard drive failed it's either because it was old and just naturally died, The platters are worn out or some other part of it, or it was defective. Your hard drive didn't die because of Oblivion I can guarantee that. Viruses only really effect the software side of things. They don't affect the hardware. And it's easy to get a OS up and running if it has failed. It's not so easy if the harddrive is fried, but they are two different things. Like I said only a very bad virus could potentially destroy your hardware but there is almost 0 chance of that happening.
