Venue List purpose? is it really needed?

hey all,

 

I'm quit new to modding Sims4, and I was wondering what the purpus is for those venue Lists?

I see some mods come with their own venu list, they do not seem to be compatible, and only one should be used.

As far as I can tell, most are all inclusive, and compatibble with eachother.

 

AEP_Pornography 4.3.0d includes: Ksuihuh_Venue List.package
Basemental-Gangs-4.11.51-PUBLIC includes: Basemental - Venue List.package
Zerbu's Venue Changes includes: Zerbu - Venues.package; Zerbu - Changes to Existing Venues.package

and the list goes on.

 

but doing some research, I read Zerbu's changelog at https://zerbu.tumblr.com/post/160347810775/the-sims-4-mod-venue-changes, and it reads:

I recently discovered that if the compatible_venues list in the SimData file is empty, the list in Build Mode automatically populates with all venue types in the game, including modded ones. The newest version of the mod clears out the list, making it compatible with every venue currently available and every venue that will ever be avaliable in the future.

 

So would using zerbu's venue_list make every other list obsolete?

 

Also, I have AEP_Pornography installed, and have Ksuihuh's PhotoStudio 'Photo&Co' - No CC - venue.

 

Now, I removed all venue lists from my mods folder, bought a lot, went into gallery, and placed the 'Photo&Co' into the lot, and it works as intented, as far as I can see.

I bulldozed the lot, put on a nightclub, ans was able to use it as a functional stripclub.

 

So what am I missing out? What does the venue list actually do? I can see and place custom venues, assign them, etc even with no venue list package in my mod folder.

Running latest 1.67.45.1020 Sims4 version.

I think,not 100% sure, venue lists adds the stuff needed at a venue....number of barstools....etc.....were you getting any red alerts on the lot requirement?

I've just installed and placed the "LoveByte stripclub" lot nextdoor, installed all required packages (mods), no venue list loaded, and I could place te venue including (modded) furniture, and use as stripclub, withouth any problems...

So I see no point in modded venue lists... change my mind..

If it works ok then you are right.....I've always used V/L's as a matter of course....so well done..

I asked on discord and apparently all venue lists do is add a cc venue to the game.....strip club....brothel....massage parlour etc......but like you say if cc venues work without it it's all good....

I've also installed basemental drugs mod (withouth venue list) , so i'll see how that works out. The thing is, everything seems to be working. But I have no idea what I should be looking out for. I can't find a definitive and clear answer on what a venue list is supposed to achieve, or add. I'm trying to find some clear information as to what a venue list does, what it exactly modifies in the game, and why. I've tried opening them with sims 4 studio, and zerbu's list deffinitly has some special venue data in there compared to the others...

According to discord experts it just adds the name of the lot....eg redapple studio etc......
