Plaguetard Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Hey All, Was wondering if anyone had any ideas here... so all the overlays from mods end up disappearing when I either equip armor or after a certain period of time passes (maybe like a minute or so). Wasn't sure if anyone had any ideas. The dirt from Keep it Clean and the Cum from SLACS all just vanish. Below is my plugin load order. Any insight you are a rockstar. I had no idea that was a setting. Found it, and it didn't do anything. Increased the base and the spell overlay amounts. Loaded in, all the overlays were there and then seconds afterwards they were all removed.

Also check your timeout in SL for how long the layers stay active (or maybe it's defeat or one of the others, can't recall, but one of the SL related mods has a setting for how long those textures stay active).

Naw, I appreciate it. SL has one for the cum timer specifically... but this is all overlays added via spell. The only one that seems to stay is from SpankThatAss... otherwise they disappear. So like, Keep it Clean my PC looks spotless, SLACS PC will have cum on her for a few seconds and then it disappears. Any mod that adds that they seem to go poof.

Really don't know where to look. Update "notice validate actor XXX (name of my pc) -- true -- hit" is from Sexlab framework i suppose, so I don't think it's the culprit. Not to the best of my knowledge, no "easy fix", if that's what you're getting at. IME, it's one of those "trial and error" things, like discovering that one mod that changes expressions is fighting with another mod that changes expressions. (I have at least three of those that can conflict on facial expressions from time to time: SL, SLSO, and Blush When Aroused, and before I removed another mod, a DAR expressions mod, I had four) I did have issues when I was using BOSSE, where BOSSE and cum overlays would seem to fight with each other, made even more messy because I use a weight based muscle overlay, which at the time *seemed* to be involved. (not sure but I don't think so in hindsight, but at the time I had no idea what was going on) One thing I *think I did to reduce the incidence (for all) is to fiddle around with their various refresh-rate values to reduce the incidence of direct overlap and slow them down (I'm sure we'd all love true realtime response, but practically speaking, many mods still use old fashioned loops - ie, check every N milliseconds - to trigger changes, rather than interrupts), in the theory that that was causing some of it. (which it seems it was)...ps> staggering response: set one for a 33 sec loop, another for 13 sec, another for 17, etc., if you get what I'm driving at... if a mod is set for a 30 sec loop, and another for 10 sec, and yet another for 15 sec, you can see that every 30 seconds, all three are going to need processing coincidentally in time . It takes far longer to achieve even a 2-loop coincidence for a 33, 13, and 17 sec loop triplet... specific values are meaningless btw, just for reference in this discussion) << this also appears to have reduced some of my previous script lag issues btw (because in truth, it's not just three loops involved, it's more than a dozen). PS> I don't have the skills, but you know what would be a cool mod? (and I'm serious too). A mod I'd describe as "optimize loop timing" . It'd go through all the various mods in your pallete, then literally optimize their loop values for working with each other and doing their intended jobs and reducing strain on the game engine. I change the "cum duration" in sexlab to the maximum, don't solve the problem I increased the number of overlay in the ini file (SKEE64), don''t solve the problem If the problem is a battle of mod, is there a way to find which mod use "overlay" ? (NB : I can loose cum overlay, dirt overlay from bathing in skyrim, or tatoo overlay from racemenu - tatoo from slavetats are ok) Thanks in advance for your time !

Could be wrong (often am) but I don't think there's a comprehensive list of mods that use the overlay features, ie, a definitive list that directly answers: "Which mods dynamically or statically change overlays or skin textures in skyrim?" All mods that overlay their own tonality are potential contributors to the problem. All mods that use the ability to control overlay layers dynamically are suspect. Even skin texture mods are ones I'd drop onto such a list, just for thoroughness IMO... First thing to do is establish which of your mods has the ability to apply either "preprogrammed" (ie static) or dynamically applied overlay settings (I'm not talking Racemenu overlays ONLY here, I also mean any mods that take advantage of the the overlay ini settings, which afaik includes more than simply applying a tat or freckles) Some are easy. For instance, Blush while aroused. You just have to do the footwork through your mod list and through your MCM. If you installed something to make you dynamically tan, or to make you blush, or a weight based muscularity adjustment, or a wound enhancement mod of some sort, or whatever, put them on the list of mods to "analyze". EDIT: even some you might not automatically associate, but which statically or dynamically influence character appearance (spellcasting, even armors and clothing via ref body specifics, ie a subtle clash with your body type) Next, check the load order rules for each of the mods. You *might find a way of load order that satisfies your desired goal. Sometimes though, it just seems like an 'either-or', not an 'and' situation, so you have to choose a mod to disable or face the oddities for whatever benefits you get with those oddities. I really appreciate it. It will be long work, because I am trying to build a very ambitious (long) mod list from the scratch. So, as you said, there is no "easy fix" and I need to establish a list of all mod that can use overlay. I may reduce the list with the mod I used in modding LE (because I had the same problem) and then try to remove one by one. I presume there is no "easy search" like using the explorer search tool form windows in the mods base to search specific files. Overlays seems to be applied by script, right ? I also wonder, if script lag/heavy script load may lose existing overlay ?

For instance, Nexus has a decent internal search tool at their site. I'm not quite so fond of LL's internal search, but widenet searches adding "lover's lab" to the search string seems to help. Observationally, as a player, not dev, yes, overlays *seem* to be adjusted using code, yes, but whether it IS script or something else (is all code considered script?) idk. In some cases yes, but again, not being expert, I'll avoid a more universal "all this are done by that", since I honestly don't know. idk if script lag would substantially alter overlay behavior. I suppose it could, at least in some cases, but that depends on stuff I'm again not sure about. for instance, I don't know if all script is subject to bottlenecking (there could be different levels of importance to scripts for all I know, and some are subject to queues while others are deemed so important they're always processed first). Script lag definitely seems to put a delay on firing up new dynamically called scripts, like loading an SL animation sequence or even executing it during an animation sequence (for instance, delayed operation of participant position keys, which I've seen in the past when script lag issues have cropped up on my own installation) What I *think* is going on in at least some of these mismatch situations is that some mods that aren't naturally load linked (ie there's no "contention" detected by your mod manager and subsequently, no load rule to deal with it) are ending up with similar status as "the ultimate say" and the one you wanted to be that isn't, due to some other mod that's not even recognized as having a conflict with the one that's producing (or supposed to produce) the effect you desired, Edited August 1, 2022 by anjenthedog

I will work on that, on the list, and remove "that" mod or "that" mod. It will take me a while. I will come back here to make an update when I will have finished my "overlay mod list" and obviously if I find the “faulty” mod.
