Ello everyone! Not sure if this is the right place to share a purely non-sexual CK3 mod, but....

This is where I have my share my second CK3 mod (but first one intended for public consumption), where I add Far Eastern cultures and religions:

https://git.touhou.fm/metalhead/paradox-mods/far-eastern-cultures-ck3

To install the mod, you click on this link, extract the folder somewhere, rename "Descriptor.mod" to whatever you like and copy it into your CK3 mods folder.

Easier install here

It's very kind of you to share it here. You should also post it on steam to have more visibility.

I have my reasons for not doing that ;)

1. It's going to be constantly updated.

2. I'd rather not disclose the second reason ;)  (no seriously tho, I'm not sure if admitting that is against the site's rules or not, but I'm sure all of you are well-aware of what I'm implying...)

Finally, I managed to add Korean, Cantonese and Vietnamese cultures.

What should I do next? Adding Muism, the religion? Or giving the cultures special things? (like Samurai for the Japanese)

EDIT: Well, I did the second thing, adding new units and cultural innovations. Muism will come later.

EDIT 2: Muism is in too.

Heyo! I gotta say, thanks alot for this mod! It's a load of fun to be able to play with the new cultures and religions. I would like to ask if it's possible to have compatibility with one of the ruler designer mods (like SarcFa's Custom Ruler Designer for example), so we don't have to make new characters from scratch with our own separate mod. This would make setting up a game where we get to play as the Japanese character we want a million times easier. At least to tide us over until CK3 finally gets it's own base-game ruler designer in a future update.

Also, this mod kinda makes me miss playing as the Kitsune in Luxuria Fantasia for CK2, particularly with some of the race expansion mods. Loads of fun playing around with Japanese folklore and mythical related stuff. How hard is it to mod that stuff into CK3?

Ello!

Thanks a lot for the positive feedback ^^ I haven't tried SarcFa's Custom Ruler Designer mod yet, but it shouldn't be too hard to make a compatibility patch for it, if absolutely necessary. Want me to make one?

Modding kitsune into CK3 shouldn't be hard either, if you have the modelling skills - sadly, I do not. Otherwise, I would have made a mod that adds the hairstyle of my waifu into the game.

A compatibility patch would be awesome. thanks! ?

About modelling, though. I have actually dabbled in modelling a little bit, but it's mostly just for some knowledge on how it works. I'm planning on getting into game development as a career in the future and knowing how that sort of stuff applies to games is very helpful. Probably the most I could do is take an existing Kitsune model and figure out how to make it compatible with CK3 if the changes are minimal enough.

That said, seeing a Kitsune or Neko or well, basically any mythical creature in full 3d glory in CK3 would be downright amazing. Triple points if it came with custom clothes or hats... just imagining it has my head spinning. Animated dragons! In the words of Fry, "Shut up and take my money!"

Although, looking at the Fate: Grand Order mod on steam (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2245363583), it looks like they were somehow able to get 2d portraits to show in-game and be functional. I haven't played it myself so I don't know how well it works (or if it works at all), but taking existing art and shoving it into the game is going to be a hundred times simpler than a full 3d model, even if it's much less amazing.

We should port MMD stuff into CK3. That would the best thing ever.

First, I wanted to thank you for doing this; I'm currently playing a Han Chinese game and having a more logical culture/religion is really appreciated.

Second, I did want to warn you about one thing - I don't want to get all social justice on you, but you should be aware that 'gypsy' is considered an ethnic slur. The proper term would be Romani. I don't know how many people will care, but I thought you might want to know for a future release, so if you get too many annoying comments you could make the change.

Third, when I unzipped this into my mods folder, the game refused to load it, saying that its path was invalid. I don't know if I'm missing something or there might be an error.

Ello!

Thank you for the feedback. The game is set in the middle ages, so using language that was deemed acceptable a mere 20 years ago shouldn't be that much of an issue ;)

Anyway, maybe you should edit the .mod file. The mod works for me, tho I am not using the launcher (I typically manually edit the load_dlc.json file).

Maybe try removing the far-eastern-cultures-ck3.mod file. Or try removing the path from the descriptor.mod file.

I actually ran into the 'invalid path problem' myself - the issue is that in the far-eastern-cultures-ck3.mod file, the path is set to path="/home/metalhead33/.local/share/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings III/mod/far-eastern-cultures-ck3". Instead it should simply be path="mod/far-eastern-cultures-ck3". The Carnalitas Mundi patch .mod file has the same path issue as well.

Thank you ^^ I will fix this ASAP.

Also, does anyone know how do I remove the excess attachments from the file I uploaded?

Hey Leaf I was wondering is there any of the religions that have extra events or decisions(or new ones)? I love your mod btw(:

You did a good job on it!

Thank you ^^ No, religions don't have extra decisions or events so far ^^ By the way, don't be shy, feel free to post screenshots.

Ahh okie! Thank you, one more question with the compatibility patch for carnalitas mundi do I need to have it separately enabled or replace the files?

Separately enabled. That's the case for pretty much all compatibility patches in any moddable game, as far as I'm aware.
