Sims 3 or 4 best experience?

I never played any Sims game, and I want to try one with some sex mods but I want them to be immersive and rather polished.

I'm looking for sex mods and situation that really blend into the base game.

So I'm asking wich Sims between 3 and 4 is the most complete and immersive to play.

Haven't really played TS3, so I can only tell you a bit about TS4.

The big advantage that TS4 has over its "older brother" is that it is the current Sims game, but also has been around for a while already. That means, there are some really great mods like WickedWhims, Basemental Drugs, Nisa's Wicked Perversions and Devious Desires to spice up your gameplay - and all of them are actively being developed, with new features coming in every now and then. Plus, the graphics are better (at least IMO).

That being said, TS4 itself isn't all that great. Sure, it offers you a lot of interesting things to do, ranging from actively playing your Sim while at work (not all jobs, but some) to going on some Indiana Jones / Lara Croft jungle adventure (without all the guns and fights, of course). But the good stuff comes at a price and some of those packs are quite expensive - so better ask Google about vendors for game keys and not buy directly via Origin. Also, while detective work, being a movie actor and all that sounds like you would be having a mighty fine time, most of it is rather repetitive. It's pretty much like playing with dolls - only that it's a computer game, so certain guys don't have to admit they're actually playing with dolls (which is alright by my standards, but not by theirs). I don't know about TS3, but if you're looking for more than just a nice backdrop, TS4 might let you down a bit.

However, with all these nice mods the game really shines again - and it's not just the "sex and drugs" part. Vanilla TS4 doesn't let you go to school with your teen Sims, it generally doesn't include anything that might upset somebody and it's not as much of a "life simulator" as it could be in a lot of ways. But luckily, that's where the mod and custom content creators come into play and save the day, because often they take the time and do what EA/Maxis didn't do. Oh, and their stuff usually is for free, in case you wondered.

Final word of warning though: Game patches tend to break mods and sometimes they do so very badly. So pay attention to game version requirements (anything too old might not work anymore) and expect a bit of a hassle after major updates (especially so-called "pre-patches", rolling out right before a new pack is released).

So you tell me I shouldn't get the last Steam release, but get it elsewhere, an older version for maximum mod compatibility?

Thanks a lot for the reply anyway, I will wait a bit more comment from other user to make my decision but you already clearly helped.

Just check different vendors and compare their prices, then pick the best deal. Or wait for a sale, if you're in absolutely no hurry to get the game.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to get an older version of TS4 (unless it's a pirated version - which is not only illegal, but also a source for even more issues with both mods and the game itself). If you decide to buy TS4 in the end, you'll have to live with those patch-related issues every once in a while - or disable automatic game updates. Major mods like WickedWhims are updated regularly, so the worst thing that has happened to me thus far was not being able to play the game for a day or two.

The whole "patch breaking mods" thing is something you'll quickly get used to (don't worry, it's not like every patch always breaks every mod) and it's probably way more annoying for mod creators than us regular players. It's just something to keep in mind if any issues pop up, not something to be terribly afraid of every time you launch the game.

Gameplay wise, Sims 3 is much, much deeper than Sims 4, not to mention the whole open world aspect.

Performance wise, Sims 4 is infinitely easier to run.

Sex mods wise, both Sims 3 and 4 have their sex mods. Sims 3 has Kinky World, and Sims 4 has Wicked Whim. From personal experience, I think WW is better integrated with the core gameplay loop, and enjoys better active 3rd party modder support, so you have way more animations for different situations.

I took Sims 4 and a couple of DLC that looked cool.

Does anyone have somekind of a good starter pack mods? like a top 20 list?
I did the tutorial in the game but I have no idea what should be modded to enhance the game.

I downloaded WW, but i guess i need more other type of mods? Animation? Body? Hairstyle? texture etc?

Its also easy to just do a search for Sims 4 CC or best sims 4 mods- only issues is checking the age of the post as a number are really badly out of date.

I have send you a PM but I wanted to post in in case others also had the same question.

For me I have to have MCCC then I use the UI cheat a lot from https://littlemssam.tumblr.com/ and Slice of life. a few other to cover stuff like making knitting take less time at MTS  and a mess of CC clothing/ items.

feel free to ask more.
