I Need Help With Oblivion Crashing

Recommended Posts

Before I begin: I am using Wrye Bash as my mod organizer and BOSS as load order sorter. I have the latest OBSE. I have the Steam version. I used the NTCore 4GB Patch onto Oblivion.exe and OblivionLauncher.exe. Here are my OBSE plugins list: https://imgur.com/a/aufjOf7

What is my problem: I am crashing whenever I try loading into a new location or waiting.

What I did to try to fix the issue: I downloaded Oblivion and OSR .ini files from here and set them both to read only https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/49447. I installed MoreHeap. I am running Steam with Admin rights and Oblivion on compability mode for WinXP SP3. I updated my Windows 10. My graphics driver does not require an update. I have cleaned all my .esps and .esms (except Oblivion.exe, .esm and the Unofficial Patches) as said here https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/49447. I downloaded TES4LodGen. Tried making AA work with HDR (not sure if it worked). Reinstalled all of my Windows C++ Redistributables. Tried fixing any hard drive errors. Disabled all autosaves. Installed the basic K-Lite Codec pack, aswell as half the footstep noise. Tried verifying game files and deleting the oblivion.ini file.

My modified Oblivion.ini file: https://pastebin.com/K9eE7BTj

Additional info: Crash log (after clean save) (also it occurred when I tried fast traveling from Anvil to the Bravil stables): https://pastebin.com/ScRmxXYR

You posted a lot... but not your load order.

BOSS is good , but have you sorted the Mods BOSS didn't know and place at the end of the load order ? You have to sort the unsorted Mods !

-----------------

AA  does not work with HDR.  There are some tools to do it. Or you use the AA from your graphic card  and HDR from the game.

............

Game not in  C : / program files  ( You can move the game , and best also Steam , out of  C  )

Many tools  ( OBSE , Pluggy ,  ... ) will not work right.

---------------

TES4LodGen:  When you change your load order you have to run it again or your game crash when you are in world space.

-----------------

Have you tried to delete your Oblivion ini ?  The game will create a new ini ( then you add the changes you want , like remove borders, ....  )

------------------

And when did the crashes start?

You have installed Oblivion, Shivering isle version with Patch 1.2.0416  ( With  Steam you get the patched version )

Then you test your game !

Then you istall all the dlc you want . That is the olny time you can install many Mods at once.

You test your game

Then you install OBSE  and maybe do the 4GB patching and test again.

Now you start with Mod . 1 to 3 Mod. AND then you test your game.  The same with OSR, MenuQue, ....   Test your game.

After which mods did the error occur?  One of the few Mods  is the bad one.   Deactivate all Mods that you have installed after the last working game test.

Then test if your game works again.

If yes:   Activate 1 or 2 Mods and test ,.... and the next 1-2 Mod ... until you find the bad Mod ( or OBSE Plugin )

Please do not tell me you have installed all Mods and tools and then tested the game the first time . . .   even if you did, don't tell me! I don't want to hear that. No , no. no !

------------------

Delete the Oblivion reloded ini ! You don't have the Oblivion reloaded dll

OBGE ?  Is that still used?  Was replaced by Oblivion reloaded.  Ok , maybe you don't like Oblivion reloaded like me  and don't want to use it.

Or do you use a verry old Oblivion reloaded version ?

-----------

Are you sure the ini settings of OSR and other OBSE plugins are right ?

You have FastExit2.dll  so you should disable the FastExit setting in the OSR ini. ( OK, that will not crash your game if you don't do it )
