[Help] Nifskope Player Face Glossiness

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've given my player character glossy skin by using Nifskope to change the BSLightingShaderProperty in femalebody_0 and femalebody_1, but I cannot for the life of me work out how to do the same for my characters face.

I know that in order to change the face glossiness for NPC faces you need to edit their mesh contained in the FaceGeom folder, but my characters face is not in there (as far as I know).

I've spent so much time trying to work this out and I've gotten nowhere! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yuor Skyrim data folder/ SKSE / Plugins / CharGen , name PC . in this folder you will find both the nif and the DDS.

Hey, thanks for responding so quickly. I suppose the reason i couldn't find it is because it is not in there for me. My only folder in CharGen is Presets and theres also a bunch of nif and dds files that are not for my character. I've just hopped in game and opened up showracemenu and saved a new face to see if any files update, but nothing unfortunately. Is there anywhere else this may be located?

Femalehead.nif is to be edited - the same path as your body nifs.

But actually that's exactly the reason why you don't edit bodynif, hand.nif or feet.nif to increase the specular.

Specular maps are available as dds for this.

The Presets folder is correct. You could see if it contains JSLOTs. CharGen files, on the other hand, do not have a sub folder (see screen), once the sculpture is exported, you should find them exactly as in the screen.

To export the Presets: Showracemenu / Presets / Key F5 or F7 / rename and export. You found JSLOT into Presets folder.

Showracemenu, sculpture, export nif (key F5 or key F7), rename, export.
Open the CharGen folder, and the nif (with the DDS) you should find it right there.
In the Presets folder you will find the JSLOT file

Cassiopeia, Eishet, Cassandra, Helenvampire, are all presets generated by me (there are still some), using the procedure above

For some reason editing the Femalehead does absolutely nothing , i've tried this several times.

Perhaps the answer for me would be to look into the dds side of things then. Would this involve downloading premade specular maps as dds or can I edit them just as easy as nifs? Thank you for the suggestion!

Thank you Lestat, this may well be exactly what I needed to know! I've learnt something new :).

I will definitely try this out tonight

Although editing the nifhead would be correct, keep in mind that this operation will bring the variables to all NPC's female that will use the nif (except for some custom races) , thus losing any possibility to customize your PC.
