DeltaD36 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I've recently been wanting to install the Oblivion Consturction Kit to add hairs to custom races, but I've been unable to install it do to an Error that InstallShield Wizard keeps spouting everytime I start the program for installation. I've got the following Error that pops up: "An error (-5006 : 0x8000ffff) has occurred while running the setup. Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications." And here is the stuff in the "Detail" tab in the below spoiler: Error Code: -5006 : 0x8000ffffError Information:>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (109)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (87)>Kernel\ObjectHolder.cpp (442)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (109)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (87)>Kernel\FileGroup.cpp (520)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (109)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (87)>Kernel\FileGroup.cpp (520)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (109)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (87)>Kernel\FileGroup.cpp (520)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (109)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (87)>Kernel\FileGroup.cpp (520)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (109)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (87)>Kernel\FileGroup.cpp (520)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (109)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (87)>Kernel\FileGroup.cpp (520)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (109)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (87)>Kernel\FileGroup.cpp (520)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (109)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (87)>Kernel\FileGroup.cpp (520)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (109)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (87)>Kernel\FileGroup.cpp (520)>Kernel\ServiceProvider.cpp (109)>Kerne>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1284)PAPP:Oblivion - Construction SetPVENDOR:Bethesda Softworks (##ID_STRING1##)PGUID:23D683DD-93C6-48E6-B84E-78B57778F126$11.0.0.28844PAK@Windows XP Service Pack 1 (7601) IE 9.0.8112.16464 And here are the Specs for my system: (Not sure if I posted everything needed) OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home PremiumVersion 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601Other OS Description Not AvailableOS Manufacturer MicrosoftSystem Manufacturer Sony CorporationSystem Model VPCSE27FXSystem Type x64-based PCProcessor Intel® Core i7-2640M CPU @ 2.80GHz, 2801 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)SMBIOS Version 2.6 To get one with some things; I've tried turning off all Virus software and Firewalls, closed out ALL running programs, and still got the error. I also get this error when trying to install a Photoshop Trial, as well. I've Googled this issue and have found many related cases, but none that really helped. Anyone have an idea as to what's going on? :/ Any information is helpful!
Guest ThatOne Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Well, there are various entries for that error code... Mostly dealing with windows update errors and registery errors. You can try what was done in this thread: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/784740-solved-error-code-5006-0x8000ffff.html Which is rename the install shield file (which should be in C/program files/common files/ or C/program files(x86)/common files/), or you can try the proposed solution from microsoft (though it's meant for the windows updater, it might work in your case as well seeing as it's the exact same error code): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946414
gregathit Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Make sure you restart your computer. Sometimes a simple thing like that is all that is needed.

Guest ThatOne Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Try microsoft's solution. The guys there should know what they are doing (at least partially) and the error codes match. It might just work.
