DeltaD36 Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 So I've recently been able to gloss everything I've wanted, from Races to Armors in Appachii's Goddess store but... well I can't seem to gloss default armors that where are converted into DMRA. :/ I've been using the 'Everything' program to select all the Nif's in the 'Armor' Folder than put them in Gloss Max. But even though the majority of the Nif's I put in there are being glossed, it just doesn't seem to do anything to the Defualt armors. They all still have this dull gloss shine like form the 'High-Rez' texture pack (See Image Below), while other standalone armors are glossed just fine. To be clear, all default clothes and armor will not get glossed. I even tried to gloss them manually through NifSkope, and I have still had no results. (NOTE: I glossed the Orcish Armor in NifSkope, which is the armor I'm using for the Glossed Wrong example.) Here's some referance of the correct Gloss look that I've gotton with other armors, and the Gloss look I keep getting with the default clothes/armors. Correct Gloss What I'm getting for default armors. (Orcish armor) I'm wondering if it's the conversion mod I'm using? I'd think that even if it's a conversion, the file locations would still be in "data/meshes/armor". I put in the Orcish armor into Glossmax directly, but they seemed to be skipped. Any info helps. Thanks!
Mailamea Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 The gloss on your armor doesnt apply because the armor doesn't use the skin proper of the material. You will need to manually open your armor's nif file, click the skin part expand the selection to Nimaterial then change the gloss there with the palette or the properties. Hope that makes sense
DeltaD36 Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 I believe I did that. :/ I opened up the Orcish Armors Nif Files, and found the texture, which I expanded, incresed the specularity and increased the Gloss setting, saved and quit. I've done this manually with other armors as well and it worked fine! I'm not sure why these just don't want to work.
movomo Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Look at the material name and see if it is set to something else other than "skin". Just in case.
Nephenee13 Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 So looks like my replacer, only with waist seams, which means you're using an old version. I already provide a pre-glossed version of my entire stock replacer, which you can find as an alternate download on Oblivion Nexus
DeltaD36 Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 I decided to do the logical thing and uninstall my my Conversions and install Saaya's. xD Now they work fine. Thanks for you help, guys.
cobme Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Sorry for pretty much resurrecting this thread, but I had a question which seemed unnecessary to start a new thread for - How do I remove glossy\oily skin from armors ? I tried setting glossmax to zero, but it resets to 10 every I run it.
Guest ThatOne Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Open nifskope, click on the part you want to reduce the gloss of. On the left menu, one of the lines should be selected - expand it. You will see NiMaterialProperty with a palette sign next to it. Click that line. On the bottom menu, scroll down until you find "Glossiness". Set that to 10 for normal skin (that is the original default value).
