Is SL Aroused Redux supposed to get NPCs to randomly have sex with each other?

My friend is modding his game as well, and will often comment that he’ll be walking around and find NPCs having sex with each other without him having to do anything. He’s pretty sure that it’s from SexLab Aroused, so I installed the SexLab Aroused Redux mod to get the same thing. Unfortunately, nothing happens. I will admit that his characters tend to be naked, while my character is a mage who uses the Atronach stone, so I really need the Magica Regen from the mage robes. However, despite the fact that the game is keeping track of NPC arousal levels, and I’ve seen characters with arousal levels over 60, the most I get is an animation of a character rubbing their crotch. I have male and female animations active, and have turned off the “Line of Sight required” settings and the “Nude actor required” settings, but sex only happens if I initiate it. Am I doing something wrong?

In fact it doesn't depend on SexLab Aroused ( for sure your friend is wrong to believe otherwise), but on other mods like Random Sex, ABMM, SexLab Sexual Life (surely there are others with the same characteristics) .

So I’m not doing anything wrong; he just has another mod buried somewhere in his mod list that is causing it, not Aroused. That’s good to know. I was afraid that I was doing something wrong and the mod wasn’t installing correctly or something. I’ll take a look at those mods you mentioned to see if I can find one that works for me. It’s been getting annoying hearing him talk about how he has just walked into an inn to find people having sex, and not being able to get the same results despite having what was supposed to be the same mod that was causing it.

Exactly so. Aroused does not trigger any sex scenes but only updates the arousal - a value to be used by other mods at their discretion.

Ok. Thanks. He has mentioned Matchmaker, and it turns out there is a mod called Arousal Based Matchmaker that would do what I want. The problem is that I had previously found a mod just called Matchmaker that was about giving the PC spells to manually trigger sex scenes, so I assumed that he had a different mod than he actually does. The purpose of this mod is to force NPC's and Creatures to have sex, but it is absolutely not random. You have to use spells for this to happen, and sometimes, spells fail .

To make it completely random, you need mods of the kind listed above

Lovers Comfort used to do that for me, not had it installed for a while now but I would often walk on couples enjoying the "comfort" of each other at night.

Well, we finally figured out what mod my friend had that I didn’t that was causing NPCs to have sex on their own. It was Romance of NPCs. He has a list of over 200 mods, plus Vortex won’t let him drop Zip files from his downloads folder to the appropriate spot in Vortex for mods from Lovers Lab (a problem I don’t have, and one I realize most of the people here won’t know, what with MO being the preferred mod manager), so the names often don’t match up. I downloaded it and started a new character (as I always do when I change my mod setup), then jacked the scene chances up to 100% so I could see as quickly as possible if it was working. I’m in the Blue Palace picking up a few spells when I realize there are a couple of NPCs standing inside each other. Turns out to be Erikur and the Palace Wench added by Immersive Wenches (which is Master for Romance of NPCs). So the mystery has been solved.

 

Not going to lie, though: I’m not a big fan of Immersive Wenches. Especially that giant poster on the Solitude wall. I’m seriously considering disabling Romance of NPCs and going with ABMM. I didn’t get any random sex when I had it installed, but I wasn’t playing very long, so it may not have had a chance to trigger. Especially since I didn’t see any sliders to up the chances of something happening. Main points in favor of ABMM are the fact that there’s no massive poster on the Solitude wall (I have no idea why I hate it so much, but I do), and there’s no immersion-breaking books in your inventory at the start of the game. Major points for ABMM with those two things alone.

Nothing as simple as the Romance of NPCs mod had, but yes, they are there. I think I wasn’t getting anything because default arousal for a scene to happen is 90%. I lowered it to 50 on my current character so stuff happens more often.

 

Also, I removed Flowergirls, Immersive Wenches, and Romance of NPCs, and got my first scene with ABMM. Was in the Ratway on the way to the Thieve Guild, and started using Frostbite on Hewnon Black-Skeever, who completely ignored me in favor of charging out the door to screw Madesi. Kind of funny.

you probably use Matchmaker together with aroused redux... that would cause thise...
