DeltaD36 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Pardon me for seeming unreasonable, but I'm rather... livid from the issues that has been causing me major butthurt. I'm posting here because those people at Nexus are being useless. So today, I started uninstalling mods that I wasn't using. When I did so to MiniLovers, Nexus gave me an error and decided to break. Relaunching the program would simply make the same error occur. I reinstalled it the first time, and when waiting for it to load, it starts saying that some mods where deleted without being uninstalled, so it starts uninstalling mods. WHY? I have no freaking Idea. I installed the skyrim setup stuff in the same place as the last.. at least I think I did. So after blindly accepting a few of the before realizing what I was doing and stopped myself. The issue is that if I DIDN'T uninstall them, than the Mod Manager would close anyways. So I'm kinda in a never ending thing. So now if I try to Play Skyrim, my female characters are now bald because I accidently uninstalled Appachi. The question is: What the Hell do I do now?
polluxval Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 -search for this path: C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Local\Skyrim Might be invisible so be sure to unhidde folders. -Delete everything there (DO BACKUPS JUST IN CASE) -Be sure to have your mods that you want to install in the folder: C:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Skyrim\Mods -Now, run NMM (install new update if possible or reinstall in case you have it already), so now it should run fine. Now, checking the mod list will say nothing is installed, reinstall them using NMM one by one until everything is installed. Hope it helps. edit. btw, interesting tags...
DeltaD36 Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 This is good info... but.... I hvae mine installed in where Skyrim is, in Steamapps/Common/Skyrim. That's where it was when it was working.
polluxval Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 mmmm that change everything. I try not to install anything on steamapps (not even wryebash) because that tend to give issues, but if it worked for you then its fine. NMM has its mod list files installed somewhere, try to search for them, I think im giving you the worng path, those are from wrye bash, let me search for the correct ones. i think i got it, should be here: C:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Skyrim\Install Info no matter where is NMM installed, those folders should exists. remove everything inside install info (make backup) reinstall and try reintalling evrything with NMM. remember , do not touch anything inside C:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Skyrim\Mods

Or just Nexus? So Nexus is currently installed like this with Skyrim: Skyrim Mods Folder: steamapps/common/skyrim/mods Skyrim Install Info: steamapps/common/skyrim/installinfo --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With that in mind, how should I go about fixing it?
polluxval Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 delete the contest of this path: steamapps/common/skyrim/installinfo always fo a backup copy. reinstall NMM. try running it and then install every mod.

Install every mod? ._. So when it tells me that something was unexpectedly deleted and needs to be uninstalled or upgraded (this is usually during the loading screen of Nexus) I just do what it says? >> Well wait... I remember exporting a load order before shit hit the fan, so maybe I won't have to.
polluxval Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Deleting the content of that path would help to avoid any notification from NMM. they will appear all mods as off but theyll be there. so you just have to doble click them until they are all installed. if you dont erase anything in the mods folder you will not need to download anything.
DeltaD36 Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 And to be clear, I erase all the content in the InstallInfo Folder? Sounds easy enough, and I made a backup. The sonuvabitch was almost two gigs large. x_x' Will get back to you.
polluxval Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 it's normal, NMM leave some files there (the overwriting files). but as far as I know, they are not vital, atleast not in this case.
DeltaD36 Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Hah ha! It worked! You sir, a genius! And about 5x better than Nexus Mod support. I thank you. If I could make the skies rain pussy, I would do so over you.
DeltaD36 Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 And to be clear, the only way I can make it 'show' that the mods are installed is by just doing it all again? Is there a file from my old 'installinfo' that can just checkmark what was there before?
polluxval Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 yes unluckily you have to "reinstall" all of them (its better than redownload) because as far as read your old posts, some of them were indeed "uninstalled", so you must reinstall all of them theyll not use more space as they already used. once finished i recommend you to use BOSS and also wryebash just in case you need a bashed patch wich is pretty easy to make.

I use boss on a regular basis, even though it resets "Imaginator". And I'm not smart enough to understand how Wrye Bash works. xD Regardless, I've been able to operate Nexus with the 'Checkmarks' not on. I'll just referance what is on by the plugins list. And again, thank you for your help. Especially with your quick responses and your tolerance of someone who was not the happiest when he posted the topic. ^^

scottstein001 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 hmmm, came across this cause i thought i found a solution to my problem. I am having a problem with the nexus mod manager crashing with an error that a file I tried to install/unistall was in use by another process and the manager was unable to access it. I have tried these steps and had little progress. The one thing that this has fixed, however is the error box is no longer saying the mod manager must close, yet I still am unable to add/remove mods. What do you think i should try?

What do you think i should try? Kill it with fire. Nuke it. Send the NMM straight to Hell in a handbasket. It's junk. A faulty program. All the cool kids have switched to Mod Organizer and for 1000 good reasons.
Whitemorn Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I had this problem today... while loading a mod my PC crashed. After restart NMM would try to load but shut down in one second. The problem was that the read me file for the new mod didn't get installed before the crash. No biggy ... just remove NMM from your PC and reinstall it. YOU WON'T LOSE YOUR MODS! You will get a prompt while reinstalling NMM asking if you want to install it with your previous configuration, or NMM's original (default) configuration? Normally, you would choose "your previous configuration." Anyhoo.. all is well with my game now.
poisoned Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 After i updated the NMM, played the game, then decided i dont want a specific mod, did that and all necessary steps, ran the game and it CTD, ran LOOT it showed me several mods (which i'm sure they were there) are missing, including but not limited to: FNIS (both essential and creature), appatchi hair, SOS, etc... double clicking the SOS showed it was copied but didnt showed the selection menu of (standard or muscled) same for SP32 and other mods that has a menu when installing them on NMM.Searched for the older version, and it was nowhere to be found. How unique... Seems inevitable to switch to MO,
