MatniaMevcay Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 I would like to start it all off with something simple, I'm new to all of this and quite frankly don't entirely know what I'm doing, so please forgive my ignorance. I've been trying for maybe half an hour now to figure out exactly what's wrong, what I'm missing, why I'm missing it, what I should install to fix it, etc., and there are a few things I still haven't figured out. I'm still missing 3 masters that just sort of have me confused. "Schlongs of Skyrim - Core.esm", "Skyrim Immersive Creatures Special Edition.esp", and "SMIM-SE-Merged-All.esp". I've been using the "Skyrim SE for Beginners" post as my guide through all of this, so I just don't know if there's something I did wrong, or missed. I have (I'm pretty certain I do, at least) base SoS, SICSE, and SMIM, which is why I'm confused
Just Don't Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 And what's the issue? You skipped or installed wrong a couple of mods. Backtrack to these mods and solve it. Schlongs of Skyrim - Core.esm: comes from SOS full, link should be somewhere in the guide you're following. SMIM-SE-Merged-All.esp: comes from SMIM (Static Mesh Improvement), again the link and further install instructions should be in the guide. Also make sure you have these mods enabled in the left and right panel of MO.
MatniaMevcay Posted June 17, 2020 Author Posted June 17, 2020 As I mentioned a bit near the end of the post, I used the guide and have installed them from there, and they are enabled, which is why I'm not sure what I've done wrong. I followed what was posted for them, but it simply doesn't show up.
Just Don't Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Can you check these mods and find the files in the proper folders? If not, you installed something wrong, reinstall and done. I can't think of any other reason for having missing masters in MO.
MatniaMevcay Posted June 17, 2020 Author Posted June 17, 2020 Is there something specific I should be looking for in specific folders to find the masters?
Just Don't Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 In MO left panel, find SOS and double click it. A new information window should appear, go to the "Filetree" tab and you should see the mod files. Here is how my SOS install looks, the esm file you say is missing should be right there. If you can't find SOS in your left panel you didn't install SOS, if you have it installed but don't see the esm in that window your install was wrong (incomplete/interrupted/corrupt, I don't know, that esm isn't optional so it must be software error). Side note, I strongly recommend you to watch/read some guides about how to use MO, there is a whole youtube series showcasing its features. Otherwise you'll have a hard time making things work, even if you're following a guide that tells you exactly what you need to install.
MatniaMevcay Posted June 17, 2020 Author Posted June 17, 2020 I apologize, but it went over my head that you meant the actual tool Mod Organizer, not just "whatever you use to organize your mods". I've never actually used Mod Organizer before, I used Nexus/Vortex for my Fallout 4 mods, so I've been using it for my Skyrim mods. I installed MO, and it's recognized a lot of the mods I installed through Nexus, but not all of them, and SOS isn't one that's shown up on the mod list on the left window. When opening the SOS file on Nexus, however, I did see exactly what was shown in the screenshot, including what Nexus says I'm missing, the only difference being they're at the bottom of the folder, and I don't see the "meta.ini" file. Would them not showing up on MO from Nexus be an indicator that something was installed weird? Again, sorry for my ignorance lol
Just Don't Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Eh, I thought you were using MO because that's the recommended mod manager in the guide you mentioned. Don't use MO now, stick to Vortex because that's where all your mods should be. But if you also have mods in NMM then you'll have other issues in the long run... you're mixing manual and virtual installs. But seriously, is it that hard to just reinstall these mods to see if your mod manager stop warning you about these missing masters? choices are the files are not in the proper place or aren't installed at all. A simple reinstall should do here. I honestly don't know how is your game/mod manager or how many recommendations from that guide you skipped, so that's the most direct and simple solution I see.
MatniaMevcay Posted June 17, 2020 Author Posted June 17, 2020 Gonna be honest, I don't really know what happened. I tried reinstalling SoS twice before I made this post, though I honestly didn't try the other ones because I was so focused on SoS. I've reinstalled it one more time, and nothing happened, and then reinstalled a fourth time and now it's fine lol The others are working as well after reinstallation I skipped over using MO purely because I had no experience with it, I suppose I should have just learned how, but my patience is generally pretty low. Would you recommend using it if I mod another game in the future? Or would using it for a different game, like New Vegas or something for example, conflict with me using Nexus for Fallout 4/SkyrimSE? I appreciate your help, thank you. Time to see if it works when I load up the game

If you're willing to learn about it and start from scratch on a clean copy of the game, sure. It's mainly used to manage Skyrim/FO4, not sure how well it handles old Beth games. But it won't conflict with other games, just stick to one m. manager and use it well. About your issue, can you post some screenshots of Vortex or your data folder (if there are mods installed there), loadorder, the actual message or warning, etc. Something to start unraveling your issue.
